fh waxes sentimental on the 'OLD JESSICA'

last night, after a full days work, I headed off shopping in search of a dress to wear to Loehmanns. 10 dresses later, I buy two (for a total of $53- gotta love loehmanns!) and head on home.

when I get there, he is off playing soccer. there is no food (fmil didn't have any meat to cook) so I call him and we decide- I tell him there is rice (fmil said so) and beans..and offer to make some eggs. he says fine...

low and behold, this no rice (fmil was mistaken) so I make these rosemary and garlic potatoes from Costco...and a HUGE spinach salad..and the eggs and beans (it's 9:30 pm now!)

anyway, fh comes home and we sit down to eat. he's like 'where's the rice'...
I said 'there's only a little left over in the fridge..I made the potatoes instead'
fh: but you told me there was rice
me: there IS...it's right there
fh: but it's COLD
me: so heat it UP....

then, the lament...

fh says 'the old Jessica would never tell me to heat it up. the Jessica of 10 years ago would have had RICE for me and would have had everything ready for me when I got home:

I said 'THANK GOD FOR THE NEW JESSICA!'

I would have thrown the rice in the garbage and told him...there's its heated up!

He should be thankful that you cook at all. I could not cook if my life depended on it and the only time we eat anything home made is when FH cooks!!

ditto. Furthermore, he'd probably be afraid I would taint his food if I did cook and he asked me to heat up something else!
