FH's best friend just invited his in-laws to OUR wedding

What's up with that?! FH's best friend from college just send FH an email with his new mailing address and wrote the following:

'P.S. Also, I am sure my wife's mom would like to participate in your wedding and bless you two- hope that works! :)'

This guy is really nice but come on now, his inlaws who my FH doesn't even know?! We are already inviting the friend's parents since they know my FH and took good care of him during his college years.

***?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!? How do we answer that email? It's just one more person but that's not the point!

yea thats... odd.

take care of it asap- have fh email his friend back and simply say, we appreciate her excitement, but i'm sorry, we cannot accomodate more people not on our list.

That is a good response and I have no problem writing it. But my Fiance hates drama and would much rather accommodate one additional person than risk any drama.

Me? Not so much!

Email is perfect medium for something like this since you are not saying no the person's face!

out of control. what the heck is it with people responding adding a zillion people? its like there's tons of them hitting the boards today. I can't imagine there's an easy way to fix it - but i mean really, don't people get it?!

It really is astounding that people invite others to someone else's wedding and see nothing wrong with it... and these are all people who have thrown weddings in the past so KNOW what goes into planning and cost. Mind boggling!!

I definitely think email is the best. And even if FH doesn't feel comfortable doing it. Ask him if you could send the email from his account, or sit with him when he sends the email.

I'd go with the excuse of cost, space, etc. of having an extra person. And if your parents are paying, tell him they have a very strict budget/guest list and you cannot deviate. Good luck!

Yeah, that's tough... How do people do that?
Just be straight forward with him and explain that this is a very intimate affair and you would like only people you are close with or people that mean something to you or your FH to be there...

I am sure he will not be offended.

Good advice everyone. I doubt he'll buy that this is an intimate affair considering it'll be over 300 people!!

Tell the FH to just blame you and say 'She's in charge, and there is absolutely no more room on the list or in the budget, but thanks!'

That's all that needs to be said (if that!!!)

You really don't even have to respond, just don't invite them. That should not cause drama . . . these people are no-one to you and your FH . . . . no reason to accommodate them, you don't even know them!

INtimate or not, 300 is ALOT of people-apologize and just say due to numbers you can not accomodate random fekking people but you can say most of it and just add cant accomodate more people then on your list, wish you could swing it but you just cant

I wouldn't bother to respond-simply I would not invite her and if he has nerve to ask me why he will get right answer.

Thats horrible that anyone would say that! People are crazy. Just tell them that the guest list is up to the limit. If he doesnt get the point, maybe he will when the invites go out and she doesnt get one...

But some people show up to the wedding without an invite. Unless he makes it completely clear that he 'gets it', I would come right out and tell him that she's not invited unless you want to run the risk of her showing up.

are you sure he didn't mean that she wants to come to the ceremony only??? that is how i took it. even if you think he meant they were bringing her to the wedding, you could put it that way - such as, 'you mean she wants to come to our ceremony? how sweet! unfortunately we have no room at the reception, but it would be fine for her to be at the ceremony.'
