...if we could move the wedding date up a few weeks because airfare from Poland to US is more expensive after June 5th. Of course he told bro no, but can you believe that he had the audacity to ask? Who does he think he is?

And his brother is in upper level management for Dell computers over in Europe. He brings in about 6000 Euros a month. Not a poor struggling guy. He has come a long way from communist Poland.
I don't think he understands how far in advance Long Islanders plan their weddings

Re: FH's brother asked him...
Well, come on what's the big deal with moving your wedding up? I mean you only rented a hall for a couple of thousand dollars. And you only reserved a ton of vendors. So, what s the big deal.

Re: FH's brother asked him...
Well I don't know how long he's been in Poland, but if he has lived there most of his life - - to his defense - - weddings are no-where as formal as they are here. 'Receptions' are done locally - - most in their homes, etc., so maybe he has no idea what it entails here. I send invitations to Europe (Italy) and they were fascinated on the invitation alone - - it's just much more layed-back then here. I don't think he meant to offend, inconvenience and be nervy.

Re: FH's brother asked him...
If he is Polish and not American, he probably just didn't realize how long it takes to plan one. But if your wedding is over a year away and not a whole lot of things are booked, I would consider moving the day, especially if there are more people traveling from overseas.

Just kidding!!!!!!! The nerve of some people. Sometimes you want to sit them down and ask, 'what in the world were you thinking when you asked this question!!!!!!!!??????' You really just have to keeep a sense of humor throughout this whole thing. Otherwise you will want to strangle some people.

Re: FH's brother asked him...
FH and his family are from Poland, but his brother got married here (to a Polish woman who wanted to move back there, so they did) so they know what a Long Island wedding is like. He knows how long it takes to plan a wedding, he knows how much it costs and how rates are different at different times of the year and most of all, HE HAS THE MONEY TO SPARE!! If he was some poor struggling guy, we would send him the plane ticket, but he is doing better than FH and I. Grrr

I am sticking to my guns. We are not moving this wedding unless there is a real tragedy (God forbid)
