Re: FH'S DANCE ?????
DH was in the same situation, mom passed and only one sister. They danced to 'Through the Years'. They were both hysterical by the end. their mom died when they were both only 15 and 11 years old, so they're very close.
I wasnt' sure how to react when he cried... he didnt' cry when WE danced our first dance. wasn't sure if i should be touched or miffed! ( it was touching, seriously).

I tried to post last night but my internet cut out!
Anyway.. I'm very sorry to hear about all this! Your poor FH!
I head a similar situation a few years ago and this is the song that was played. It gave me goodbumps. I dont like counrty but I love this song. Its Landslide by the Dixie Chicks.
Here are the lyrics:
I took my love and I took it down I climbed a mountain and I turned around And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills Well the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky What is love Can the child within my heart rise above Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides Can I handle the seasons of my life
Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older Im getting older too Well...
Well, Ive been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older Im getting older, too Well Im getting older too
So, take this love and take it down Year and if you climb a mountain and ya turn around And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well the landslide brought me down And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills Well maybe Well maybe Well maybe the landslide will bring you down

Don't know if it's too sad...Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On theme to Titanic:
Every night in my dreams I see you, I feel you, That is how I know you go on
Far across the distance And spaces between us You have come to show you go on
Near, far, wherever you are I believe that the heart does go on Once more you open the door And you're here in my heart And my heart will go on and on
Love can touch us one time And last for a lifetime And never let go till we're one
Love was when I loved you One true time I hold to In my life we'll always go on
Near, far, wherever you are I believe that the heart does go on Once more you open the door And you're here in my heart And my heart will go on and on
There is some love that will not go away
You're here, there's nothing I fear, And I know that my heart will go on We'll stay forever this way You are safe in my heart And my heart will go on and on

There you'll be ... by Faith Hill
When I think back on these times, And the dreams we left behind, I'll be glad cause I was blessed to get, To have you in my life,
When I look back on these days, I look and see your face, You were right there for me.
Bridge:
In my dreams I've always seen you soar above the sky, In my heart there'll always be a place for you, For all my life,
Chorus:
I'll keep a part of you with me, And everywhere I am there you'll be, and everywhere I am there you'll be,
Well you showed me how it feels, To feel the sky within my reach, And I always will remember all, The strength you gave to me, Your love made me make it through, Ohh I owe so much to you, You were right there for me.
Bridge:
In my dreams I've always seen you soar above the sky, In my heart there'll always be a place for you, For all my life,
Chorus:
I'll keep a part of you with me, And everywhere I am there you'll be,
Cause I always saw you in my life, my strength, And I wanna thank you now for all the ways, You were right there for me, you were right there for me Always!!
Bridge:
In my dreams I've always seen you soar above the sky, In my heart there'll always be a place for you, For all my life,
Chorus:
I'll keep a part of you with me, And everywhere I am there you'll be, And everywhere I am there you'll be, There You'll Be

I am so sorry to hear that. I think most any of these songs will bring tears to their eyes.. but thats not necessarily a bad thing. I think the suggestions offered are good. I like landslide a lot.

I am having the same issue and would love some help. FH's mom passed a year and a half ago and he will be dancing with his sister. They both feel that it will be hard enough without adding a sad tear jerking song into the mix. I could REALLY use some suggestions.

Re: FH'S DANCE ?????
I don't know if it helps but my Dad passed away just 3 days before our wedding... I danced with my brother to 'Stand By Me' and it worked very well for us that day. (To be honest, it's one of my most treasured moments of the whole day). We really wanted something a little upbeat (my bro's a great guy, who can't dance to save his b*tt), Here are the lyrics, and good luck to you and your FH!!! And no matter what you choose, it will be a beautiful, poignant dance....
When the night has come And the land is dark, And the moon is the only light we'll see. No I won't be afraid, Oh I won't be afraid, Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darlin' darlin' stand by me, Oh stand by me, Oh stand, stand by me, stand by me.
If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall, Or the mountain should crumble to the sea. I won't cry, I won't cry, No I won't shed a tear, Just as long as you stand, stand by me.
And darlin' darlin' stand by me, Oh stand by me, Whoa stand now, stand by me, stand by me.
Darlin' darlin' stand by me, Oh stand by me, Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me.
Whenever you're in trouble just stand by me, Oh stand by me, Whoa stand now, oh stand, stand by me.

OMG - I am going to cry!!! forget about him not crying. Honestly, i dont see how he can't address their absence - they were important parts of his life. I can understand - its a 'happy ' time for him, but its also bittersweet/ I just don't know....
'seasons of love ' from Rent soundtrack?
