FI and I went to Open Houses all day today..

We aren't seriosly looking yet just getting an idea...it was soooo fun!!! I want a house But now reality is setting in about the cost of living on Long Island!

We went looking with the FILs. THey are looking to move. The houses they were looking at were BEAUTIFUL! Beautiful, but SO expensive.

Where were you looking?

Today we looking in Massapequa and Wantagh....we are looking in Bethpage and Seaford too

Housing on LI is WAY too much!! We are going to Florida in July to start looking around. We will be moving to Port Saint Lucie...its about cetnral eastern coast flordia. Its going to be a hard move, but we CANT afford to stay here!!! we cant wait to start looking

Right now we are starting to look for co-ops because buying a house is out of the question for us. The prices are crazy!!

yea, its expensive to live on long island... port st. lucie is beautiful, my grandma just bought a house there and my parents live in stuart which is a few minutes away. love it there, good luck

Isnt it just DEPRESSING?? My FI and i have been SERIOULSY considering leaving LI. There is NO reason why real estate should be this expensive. I just think its sad that young people are being forced to leave or struggle to live here. So not fair.

Well good luck anyway! I hope you find something that suits your needs. My FI and I for now are looking at condos until we make a final decision to stay here or leave. AHHH!!

FH & I have looked at almost every house in these areas...It is really sick on what people are asking for houses nowadays on LI...The truth of the matter is, people are actually paying these prices too! FH & I have been actively searching for a home since October & every weekend we get sick of seeing the junk that is out there! So if you ever want any info on these areas, feel free to FM me

That's where my grandparents lived. When my grandfather passed away this year and we sold the house, it was unbelievable! Too bad I didn't have enough to buy the house then and there.

When we first started looking we had no idea of what we were doing...The more houses you see, the more you learn...Also, if you are not sure of what type of house you want, it is great to be looking...FH & I really wanted a colonial but after searching we found we fell in love with splanches & that is what we REALLY want...

We just moved into an apartment and I hate dumping $$ into something we're not keeping. I'd love to get a house and start on a mortgage. The cost of living on LI is just so darn high! He had mentioned doing it before we get married but it'd prob be easier to do afterwards, it'll give me something to do when the wedding plans are done. We'd love to get out of NY but I can't go too far from my fam and he certainly can't leave his daughter.

I was in your boat! FH and I just signed a contract on a house 2 weeks ago.

We must have seen about 50 houses. Unfortuately with the prices to stay on the North Shore, we had to go to Suffolk I just really like the North Shore better.

We did look at some stuff on the South Shore. My best advice- Look for School District! Also don't look at the money you have now, your salaries will go up. So stretch yourself. It will definitely be hard in the beginning, but worth it in the end.

We are moving to Smithtown.

If you want the name of our realtor FM and I'll give it to you, she was really great. We spent every weekend for a few months with her.

We got very frustrated I felt towards the end. Then FINALLY we found it and knew right away. The house was only on the market for a day!
