FI came back from the vet last night, ferret needs surgery

Our little ferret Mush has this cut over his eye and a scab that just seemed to never go away. At first we thought he cut himself scratching and really didnt think much of it. Recently this scab got bigger and his right eye started squinting. So FI brought Mush to the vet and turns out that little scab is a TUMOR.

From scratching it, he scratched his cornia and this is why he is squinting. His eye is light sensitive.

The vet gave us 2 prescriptions (one thing of eye drops for the scratched cornia and amoxacilian to help him prepare for surgery)

Mush goes in Thursday morning. They will give him anesthecia (sp??) cut the tumor off, stitch him if need be, and then they will do a biopsy of it.

He may have to stay overnight.

So far the ferret has been taking his medicine and has been ok. He still seems like his regular happy go lucky self. Hopefully we'll know more on Thursday

I had a ferret as a little girl, they are so sweet.

I hope he is ok!

thanks.

He hates taking his medicine, but he always gets a treat afterwards so I think he caught on, take medicine get a treat so be good for taking medicine.

I hope its nothing serious when he goes in.

Oh Mush!! I love ferrets, never had one but everytime I go in a pet store I'm all over them.

Hope everything turns out okay! Sure Mush will be fine What color is he?

we have 2 ferrets. Mush and Stinky. Mush is white with grayish color tips and Stinky is brown. At least I can tell them apart

so far he has been good when taking his medicine. He hates taking the amoxacilian because we have to give it to him thru an eye dropper and we have to hold him but he knows he gets a treat afterwards so he's been getting better at sitting still.

He takes the eye drops with no problems.

So far so good with taking his medicine.

We're just preparing ourselves for the surgery.
