I was in the wine store, found Duck Walk wine, and started thinking that this may be a great favor to give away at our wedding. I proposed this idea to my FI and he actually said that this was a good idea!!! We are both big wine drinkers (in fact I'm indulging as we speak) and this would be perfect for us. I did a search and I know that several brides have done this. How do you go about the process? Are there any other Long Island white wines that you would recommend for favors? I assume my FI and I would have to try these wines first before we give them away (oh, boy!) then maybe contact the vineyard or a liquor store? Help me - my FI is willing to discuss this with me without my nagging!

JennRenee gave out wine as favors. Pinder, I believe. If you search through her posts I think you will find pretty detailed explanations about what she did. Or you can just FM her.
I am not giving out wine as favors, but I think it is a great idea! I am a big wine drinker as well.

Wine was the one favor idea that my FH was happy about too. Not sure where we will get them, probably Pindar in Port jeff, or Duckwalk. I was going to call next week.

I used Duckwalk! The standard chardonnay is my favorite from them...we used this wine because this was the first bottle of wine DH and I drank together and the first vineyard we visited together.
Have fun with this. Go wine tasting and try them out..you can go for a tour too.
I did all my ordering over the phone with Duckwalk. They were so easy to work with. They wrap them for you and will put on customized labels if you provide them. Then when I went to pick them up we went wine tasting and they gave us a wrapped bottle of champagne too! I heard for others that using the Pindar store in Port Jeff is cheaper but I called both and got a cheaper price for what I needed from Duckwalk. I posted a picture recently of how the favors looked wrapped and on the table under one of the recent favor/wine favor threads (last week).
Edited to say: I ordered mine a month before - they are really quick to get! FM me if you have questions.

Thanks Niecey, I will definitely keep you in mind! I look into it this weekend and will FM you for details when the time comes. My FI and I are really looking forward to trying out the different wines!

I am also using favors from Duckwalk! Me and my FI spent a lot of time out east last summer and stumbled upon their winery. We did some tasting - and fell in love with a lot of their wines. We have decided to go with the Southhampton White wine for our favors. It is a really smooth white wine (similar to a Pinot Grigio) and the bottles as not expensive. Good Luck!
