Field Day Concert in Calverton...

has been canceled....there was a press conference at Town Hall this morning telling the media that there will be no concert.....they are moving it off Long Island somewhere-they aren't saying where.

I have to say I'm very happy about this. My FILs live in Miller Place so I am very familiar with the whole Calverton area and I was totally and completely dismayed that they were doing a concert in that Field. It's almost as if nothing is sacred anymore in the way of entertainment. Screw the ecosystem there, the birds, the plants, the trees, the vineyards....

AWESOME! Not to crash the party, but I have to drive out to Montauk this weekend for my FH's triathlon and we would have been sitting in traffic for HOURS!

Thrilled- a lot of people felt the way you do. We have been getting calls for WEEKS about this. I am just relieved that the decision has been made, and it's over with. I live about 9 miles from Calverton, and I know that all kinds of businesses were in an uproar about the loss of clientele because no one wanted to come out to Riverhead with the concert going on.....

A good friend of mine owns the Blue Point Brewery
they had supplied many kegs of beer for this event and now they are out lots of $$$$$$$$$

Im sure this was a big $$$$$$ Loss for many i know the Best Western was booked in Riverhead now what

I agree with Thrilled too. My parents live in the Riverhead area. I cant imagine such a big event out that way with that amount of people and the roadways and surroundings. I used to work at Grumman in Calverton where it was supposed to be held so I know the premise very well. Kind of glad to here this.

yeah i read about the Blue Point Brewery and felt really bad for them!!! they should be reimbursed somehow by whoever decided to cancel... why was the concert cancelled anyway?

Can you imagine the traffic? They never considered the impact of such a huge concert on the land or local areas. I think the ecomony could use the boost though.
