Fights

okay-so I was just wondering how everyone's FI reacts to things.

If you guys are arguing will your FI fight back, not talk at all and act like nothing is happening, sulk , etc?

My FI will just walk away or act like nothing happened and it drives me crazy-one day he is going to implode from all the bottled up emotion...

In the 3 1/2 years that I have been with my FH, I have learned to pick my battles, and that is what I do. I only fight with him over the things that are really important to me in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Fights

we both agreed to have great open communication, so when we do fight, which is rarely, we don't leave the room until it has been resolved. no matter what. if you don't deal with it right then and there, then it will just become another fight some other time.

we have a rule of never going to bed mad and we have never broken that rule.

same here - and we are not good at arguing! We have very different thought and communication styles - so arguing never fixes anything for us.

Re: Fights

Nothing bothers him.. NOTHING. Therefore he dont yell.. or doesn't scream. He just watches me do it and then stands there and laughs at me.

Re: Fights

When one of us gets upset at the other we usually avoid each other so we can collect our thoughts and calm down a bit. This way we don't end up saying something we don't mean or are later going to regret. So after a few hours or the next day (depending on the severity and time of the fight) I'll approach him and we'll talk it out. At that point we hug and stay close so we know 'I'm mad at you but I still love you'. Then everything turns out all right again!!

Re: Fights

FI usually walks away from me cause I can say b*tchy things when I'm mad. He hates fighting, but even when I'm yelling, I'm not meaning to fight. So he waits till I cool off, and then I usually get my way! It still irks me though!

Re: Fights

I, unfortunately, have to deal with the Italian/Spanish mix of my FH. Usually I get the typical 'I dont want to talk about it' because he hates confrontation..this drives me CRAZY because I like to deal with thinks, get them out in the open and talk about them. BUT THEN, on occassion, I get the 'what babe...what...what...and then he ends up YELLING (which is the Italian side)...and he tells me I need to get out of my 'fantasy world' which drives me EQUALLY as nuts!!! There is not winning...

Re: Fights

No, he follows me around the house and argues his point until I either yell at him to shut up or we come to a compromise. I'm usually the one who needs to calm my temper before I can discuss things rationally.
