Every bride has their favorite bridal gown designer (mine is Reem Acra). And although some of us can afford Couture gowns, others are left looking for knock-offs or affordable substitutes. How fantastic would it be if I could get a REEM ACRA gown, BY Reem Acra, without the Reem Acra price? If only that were possible.

OH... MY... GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!!!! OK, so I bought one of his gowns like a year ago (DIRT CHEAP) b/c he was a 'new designer' and the sales lady told me he worked for Priscilla of Boston for so many years but just went out on his own-- so she basically told me to hurry up and get one of his gowns while they were still affordable... she then said that he was supposed to 'take over' Jim Hjelm's line of Wedding dresses in a few years when 'Jim was supposed to retire'... NEVER did I think that Jim was James!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!! Mind you, my cousin paid out her @$$ for a Jim Hjelm gown!!!

HOLY COW!!! I still can't believe it-- so after all that, he just decided to come out and say it 'BAM, I'm Jim Hjelm!!' Now all of his gowns, I'm assuming, are going to go up in price!! I'm so glad I got my beautiful gown when I did. I always knew it was so well made and he was a great designer but I can't believe that...

You want to laugh.. when I was in high school we did a wedding project and my dress was from House of Bianchi!!! Who knew it was James Clifford/Hjelm all along!!!!

Good morning ladies.

Well, I am not the OFFICIAL source of this information, but a friend of mine who's been working as a bridal consultant for many years told me the story. Here is the story as SHE told it to me:

J. Hjelm's company had to be sold for unknown reasons ($$$$$). Upon selling it, he could no longer use the JH so he started another line using his full name - James Clifford Hjelm. His collection under this name is quite affordable while still having a touch of couture to it. Many women are flocking to the Jim Hjelm Bridal salons when they can just check out his James Clifford collection which is just as beautiful. I just wanted to spread the word to all the Jim Hjelm fans (in an incognito way - which was a total bust - ).

His gowns are so beautiful and the prices are even better. I don't think his prices are going up significantly anytime soon because many still don't know who he is. At least for us 07 brides, we can get in while the getting is good.

You can go to the Massapequa Bridal Reflections store - they have a couple of his dresses. But if there is a particular gown(s) that you like, you can contact them directly and ask them to send a sample over to the Bridal Reflections store of your choice. They will do so with no problem.

I work in the city and the main JC salon is here as well, so they messengered a sample I wanted to see to the Bridal Reflections on 5th Avenue. Youll be surprised at the prices and the designs.

Bridal Reflections carry almost all of his dresses. If they don't have a specific gown, you can call the James Clifford office and a very nice lady will call you back and tell you what salon you can find it in. For me, she actually called me back and when I spoke with her she set up an appointment for me at Bridal Reflections-- and the gown was waiting for me when I got there, ready to be tried on!
