figuring out guest list? umm.. help? lol

figuring out guest list? umm.. help? lol

so... how did u girls figure it out and decide on what you were guaranteeing for the halls.

Here is the looks of things...

If my FH and I invite everyone, even our maybe's we would be inviting 261 people.

If we invite just our def it would be 215

So... lets say we go with the 215. Of that # about 10 are children and about 5 co-workers i can count as vendors also, so they couldn't be included for my guarantee. So now i'm down to 200.

I am realistically looking at my list and trying to figure out who will be saying no, such as people out of state, elderly or handicapped traveling from out of state, people who might be away at college, or family members who might not want bring their children (ranging from 7 and up by that time).

What # should i really be thinking?
My FH and i went through our list last weekend and of the people who we figure would attend its abuto 150. I'm sure it would be more then that but we wanted to play it safe.

thoughts? lol

I would say you should low ball your numbers to the hall so that when they are figuring out the price your guarantee is lower so that you don't have to pay for more people then you have. I would say tell the halls that you would be having about 125 that way it gives room for playing around with numbers and you don't have to worry about paying more money for people who don't show.

I had about 270 on my list...so guaranteed 200. And to be honest...I'd be happy with less than 200 showing up...because I think the RH usually throws in some extras to make the difference. I just really want to stay under 200...max 225

well 160 is assuming that 20% of the people (of 200) wont come to the wedding, i think thats the norm (about 10 - 20%)

although it is a good idea to tell a hall less people then you are inviting, i think u may run into a problem as far as a small room vs. a big room. if you go in saying 125, they may want you to have a room that holds 150. but in the end if you end up with 200 people i am not sure where you are going to put them.

we have a minimum of 175....our guest list was at like 260 but when we cut out kids and ppl who will probably not come...its more like 200 but thats with a lot of our friends being invited with a date...im getting nervous ppl will come alone and we won't make our minimum.

i've heard that rule of thumb is 20% of people invited do not attend, so always account for that in your guest list

So here is what I will do.

To ensure you all meet your minimum, I will come! This way everyone is happy

We set our minimum at 135 knowing that we will end up having about 175-190 invited and maybe 150 show up...

Play it on the safe side when you go to these halls....

Everyone I've spoken to about this says most times 15% of your invites won't be there on the day of... So if yours inviting 200 ur looking at 30 people not showing on average... so between 160-180 is a good amount to think...
