Fiji

Hi ladies! Did any of you consider Fiji over the French Polynesian islands (Bora Bora, Tahiti, Moorea, etc)? If so, why?

I'm looking into Fiji for my honeymoon. I've heard only great things about it. Sooo romantic! I love the beach & my FH likes more adventure-based activities...I heard Fiji is good for both! Good luck!

i looked into it awhile ago and found out that their military over threw their government. seems a bit unstable to me. i know people who have gone, and they say its paradise, but i didnt want to take any chances with something so serious. good luck.

I've heard they had some instability with the government but it's really only in the town of Suza, the capital. It doesn't seem to be a problem for tourists, based on what I've been reading.

my cousin went to fiji and LOVED it! We didnt look into honeymoons too much yet but are thinking st. lucia for us!

umm yes tina!!! im dying to go there on our hm.... its so expensive though... its beautiful and looks amazing i read a few girls reviews and it was everything people say it is....

I can't decide btw. Bora Bora and Fiji. Bora Bora is a lot more money, but I think I'm leaning more towards it. Ugh! I hate decisions.

i looked into fiji but couldn't get flights so we went with tahiti. i don't think you could go wrong with either place though. good luck!

I was considering it...and then I heard there is really no nightlife...that its basically all enjoy the views during the day, do some excursions and activities then the whole island shuts down at 11 or something....

Dont know if it is all true...but that would ruin it for us...we'd like to go out some nights

from what i hear the hotels are much more valuable in fiji then in tahiti. and in my oppinion the hotels are a little nicer in fiji. im not sure beach and water wise which would be nicer.

We have been to Fiji and it's gorgeous! We stayed at the Cousteau resort and then in the Mamanuca islands at Tokoriki. We went to Tahiti on our honeymoon because neither of us had ever been there. Fiji seemed to be less expensive overall but Tahiti is nicer in my opinion. Fiji is a really big place so there are areas that are really different from each other.
I'd go back to either one!

I was considering it very seriously until I found out how long the flight was... there is no way I am going to take a 15 hour flight and ruin 2 whole days of my honeymoon... If you don't mind the long travel, go for it-- it looks gorgeous. I can't remember the sites I looked at but I found a lot of reasonable 'island hopping' packages for around $5,000 which isn't too bad.
