FIL rant

FIL rant

[bridezilla]

ok so when i ordered my invitations i had to order them so that the RSVP envelopes had 2 different addresses- my family's and his family's. the reason we did this was b/c FH is in Australia and it just made sense to send their half of the invitations over there, and then they could send out for postage reasons. it would be alot to send each one internationally and then have to put on more postage for them to send it back to the US etc.

the day i sent them out i sent FMIL an email with instructions how to put them together, b/c if i knew if i sent it to FH, then something would get messed up. i told FH that i sent this email. so the other day i was asking how they were going and he described to me how they put it together, and it was wrong. i said didnt your mom read the email i sent? well they went back and fixed what was done wrong.

so a half hour ago, i was talking to him, and we were talking about the invitations, basic chit chat and how he sent them out. he said that 2 people more will be coming over for the wedding. i said great, just let me know the final number when the RSVP cards come in. i then said 'you did put a stamp on the RSVP envelopes, right?'. and he said no.

i could have flipped right there, i just think that is so rude. and what makes it even more annoying was we spent extra money to have the 2 different address set envelopes, and i know that if i received an inviation without a stamp, i would be kind of annoyed. i then asked why did i even bother giving instructions, and take the time out to write this email. he said they didnt put on the stamps, b/c postage was already getting expensive for the invitations. i spent a lot of time picking them out and they werent cheap either.

i am sooooo fuming right now.

That really stinks. Yes, postage is expensive, but you are right, I would be a little annoyed if I got an invite with no stamp on the rsvp (especially since I usually dont even have stamps b/c I rarely mail things anymore

Thats is really annoying, but there is nothing you can do about it now..

Maybe its usually done differently in Australia? Is that a possibility? Maybe the don't put stamps on their RSVP cards there? I don't know I am just grasping to try and make you feel better.

I wouldn't worry about the no stamp thing. Many times in other countries that isn't customary. You supply your own stamp to return the envelope.

I understand you being annoyed about them not following insturctions though. Just think who will know the difference

i was thinking that it may be done like that in other countries, is that really true?

i think what i am most annoyed about the not following instructions. this has resulted in a HUGE fight with FH now.

it isnt just this one little thing, this happens all the time with anything that i ask him to do for the wedding, so this is the straw that broke the camel's back.

i would definitely be upset that they didn't follow your directions... BUT like some of the other girls said, maybe they just do it differently in austrailia- maybe the guests won't expect a stamp to be on the response envelope... you have to remember that in NY area, things are TOTALLY different than anywhere else as far as weddings are concerned...
