Final Arrangments meeting tonight...VENT - long sorry

And I'm not even excited about it.

RH is nickel and dime'ing us on everything.

$150 fee for lighting the candles that I'm supplying. That's not happening. My aunt and uncle will light them for me if it comes down to it. I'm not buying 5 for $1 votives at AC Moore, waiting until 6pm to use a 20% off coupon to get charged $150 to light them!!!

They're also charging $150 per extra table in the future if we give them too low numbers tonight. Needless to say, we're telling them we're inviting more people than we are just to play it safe.

FH hasn't been employed since Feb. 16, and has no income now whatsoever. Not even unemployment, because we're in the middle of getting a mortgage.

RH's are used to being able to nickel and dime LI brides and getting away with it because the economy was good and everyone had jobs. Well guess what. Times have changed.

We can't afford all these extra $150 fees and my RH will hear it from me.

I'm ready for a fight.

Oh Im so sorry... Its it alittle early for you to be having a final arrangments meeting though? Im sure in a few more months you will have a better number to give them so they dont charge you extra per table

Hopefully it'll be a lot more pleasant and easy than I'm anticipating tonight.... Maybe they'll try to work with us.... but I'm pessimistic since we already signed the contract.

We don't have to give a final count tonight - my invites aren't even done yet. They just want to approximate how many table I will need, and then if we need more when the final count is given, that's when they'll charge the extra $150 for each extra table needed. That's why I'm going to tell them I'm actually inviting more people than I actually am. So they quote me for more than enough tables.

Oh I get it now.. I didnt have to do that for my RH.. seems a little weird that they would charge you for extra tables.. they usually charge you when you dont meet your min! GL!!!

I am sorry you are feeling this way. Just so you know, I think you might be misunderstanding what you received in the final arrangements packet.

1) They will not charge you to simply light candles. They do, however, charge if they have to actually 'put together' your candles and your centerpiece. If your candles are all in their holders and ready to go, it is my understanding that they do not charge to do that. Past brides apparently thought that TC was going to build their centerpieces, which would be crazy to expect. I am having them put 12 votive holders with tealights on each table and was told it was not a problem to light them - and there is no fee.

2) They do not simply charge $150 extra per table. What happens at TC is that there is one waiter per table. If you have 150 guests, you divide 150/12 and get 12.5 - which you round up and get 13. That means you get 13 tables to seat your guests at. If you wanted more than 13 tables (say you only wanted 10 people sat per table and needed 15 tables) - then they charge you an extra fee per table because they have to hire another wait person to wait on that table. And, this doesnt mean you have to have 12 people per table either, because you can have tables of 10, 12 or 14 - just that the number of tables you wind up with has to be your guest count divided by 12. [I know this was hard to explain and I am sorry, but they will explain it to you - its easier to say than type]

I was told the exact same thing that mcclj74 was told. I saw someone post something similar about the final packet and I made an appointment for other reasons shortly after and discussed the same concerns you are having and everything was just a misunderstanding.

1- only get charged if they have to put CP and or candles together... If you bring your votives in the glasses they will scatter them on the tables and light them. but if you want them arranged in a specific ornate way (spelling out names or crazy stuff like that) then there might be an issue.

2- the seating is divided by 12. And you can mix and match the table sizes... (as stated by mccli74. )

I wouldnt worry, but I know how ya feel, Your mind should be put at ease at your meeting.... Who is your BM manager?
