Final Head Count (possibly stupid) Question!!

Let me know if I'm missing something here...

Since most of my RSVP's have slloooowly trickled in, I'm able to get a pretty close estimate of how many people will be attending. A lot of people have told me when I give in my final head count to shave some people off the list to account for no-shows and last minute cancellations. I totally agree with this I just don't get how to do it!! I have to give my RH an alphabetized guest list with table numbers, how many at each table, etc. Do I just pick a handful of people I think might not show up?? This is all due about 2 weeks before so maybe I can give them an updated, correct list about 2 days before and not worry about day of no-shows??

Did anyone else do this?? Am I a moron for making this more complicated than it really is??!!

Most RH allow you to make any changes up to a specific time (for me it was 24 hours before the wedding) so maybe ask what the timeframe is for making any changes- that way you can add in anyone that you didn't give in before on that alphabetized list that they need 2 weeks before.

My RH requires that tables are set for my exact headcount. Some people don't show and some people just show up unexpected. I'm going to give my RH a true number of the people who RSVPd yes. If people don't RSVP at all, I'll be calling them and asking if it's a yes or no. If people just show up and don't have a seat, the RH will squeeze one in.

May not be the best way to do it, but that's what we're doing!

I was going to give my RH about 2 people less than I actually have because I have heard stories of people not showing up at all, and did not want to get stuck paying extra plates. But when they told me about a list and a final count had to match I didn't want to be confused the day of.
I told them the actual number of guests that I have. Don't want to try to figure out anything last minute.

Do you count yourself and Fh in the count too? I am going through the same problem!

I am not allowed to change my headcount once its given. I have 8 days to go and have not given my final head count.

In the last week I had 10 drop outs - mostly 'my date is not coming' My hall stated that i had to give it 10 days in advane im giving about 3

I thought we didn't but I was told yes. You would think they will let you and FH be free.

are you over your minimum? is that why you want to do this, bc otherwise there is no point to it.

I know some people do this but like you said, we had to give an alphabatized list of all our guests and which guests will be at what tables and this is all done by first and last name. They get your final headcount from this. So in order to do this you have to actually leave off peoples names from the list, and theres no way of knowing ahead of time who will show and who won't. Personally for me it just seemed like too much of a problem so thats why i didnt want to deal with it. You also have to give your RH the placecards from ahead of time so that means not making a placecard for guests who rsvp yes, and then when they show up i feel bad if they dont have a placecard which they would feel awkward with to begin with and then having the RH set up seats for them.

I was going to shave 2 to 4 off, but didn't hit the min, so we will count the kids at full price to meet the min.
