Final Meeting over Phone?

How does everyone feel about doing the final meeting over phone?

My venue wants it to happen Wednesday morning, I did not know that. The person who deals with this is not free next weekend when we are back in town. Not free Thursday morning before the wedding because there's a huge golf event that day he's in charge of. We did not plan to drive back till Wednesday evening and we have other people driving with us. People who have hotel rooms booked.
So I'm stuck with confirming everything about my wedding via the phone.

I am tad uncomfortable with that.

What do you think? Do you think it's a big deal?

i would be ok with it... in fact, i dont think there is anything that can be done in person that cant be done over the phone...

depends what you need to discuss. i think it should be fine though unless you have to tell him very detailed things.

ITA-if it's just a matter of giving a final head count; and going over very basic things then do it over the phone.

But if there were any logistics you need to dicuss i.e. see something in a particular room or whatever in person then that would bother me.

ITA. I requested that we walk through the room so I could point out where we wanted certain things set up. There was no way I could've done that over the phone.

I'm apprehensive about doing the Final Meeting over the phone because it sounds so final. But to be quite honest a lot of our details in terms of the venue has been long set. I've been talked a lot with our venue coordinator through the whole planning and she assured me everything we talked about was printed and inserted into my file.

I plan on printing out all the emails back and forth with her so I can note down everything she promised me, in case I forget to tell him on the phone. Doubtful!
That way I have a clear concise list of points I want to hit with S (the other dude) on the phone.

I think I would feel LOADS better if I can get a copy of whatever he will be reading from via email. Which is basically what he is going to order from and give to the maitred. And a way of contacting the maitred

I feel like S (the person I need to finalize things with over the phone) is mainly responsible for ordering everything. The food, booze, etc. That's stuff that has been set since May. So that's def something I can do via the phone.
If I can talk to the maitred the guy who will ultimately be responsible for making sure things get carried out properly, everything is set up properly, I would feel loads better.

I think tomorrow I will call the event coordinator and voice my concerns and see what happens.

Unfortunately although I would MUCH rather do the final meeting face to face....as a result of not living there I will have to settle for phone.
I can't ask everyone (all 6 of us driving down) to take an extra day off of work and pay for an extra night of hotel.
I think if things were less 'finalized' or I felt like there were many loose ends I might push for FI and I to drive down even a day earlier than everyone else to make the face to face wednesday morning meeting.
