I have my first fitting on thursday for my dress. It was a custom gown so it SHOULD fit me with no need for alterations but of course it is possible. However, I was told to bring my remaining balance.... is this because they assume it will fit and I would be taking it home? I don't feel comfortable giving them my final payment (all cash) if the dress is staying with them for alterations.

Final Payment on the dress?
If it were me I'd say that id rather pay the remaining balance once the dress is ready tone brought home - if they push maybe offer a partial payment with the rest coming once the dress is ready to be picked uo
I know with kleinfeld they required full payment before they'd start alterations.

OH! Ok.. good to know Thank you. I went with a private owned store so I have been nervous about everything. If Kleinfeld's does it like that though then I am more at ease.

I had my first fitting this past Saturday at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset, and they also required the gown to be paid in full before alterations began. Alterations aren't paid for until the gown is all ready to come home.

My place required you to pay in full as well, alterations are a separate payment. This was the same for when I was in my friends wedding.
