What do I do when I give the hall the final count. I dont want to pay for 4 plates (for those maybe no-shows). Do I tell the hall this? My FH says not to tell them, but what if they count the placecards. Plys my table chart from them requires the total # of kids/adult per assigned table. Should I just be honest and let them know since I am way over the minimum I am not paying for 4 plates but will have check/cash the day of.

I would call them & explain the situation to them! If you are over your min, then I would not see the big deal. If you have an 'idea' that there are going to be no-shows, then definately explain this to them!

I met with my hall last night and the first thing the banquet manager asked was if I had all my RSVPs. I told him no, there were still two floating out there someplace. He said no problem, let the maitre 'd know when I dropped off my favors etc next week. We also discussed some people that have medical issues that might not show. Again, I was honest and left them off the final headcount I turned in. I have all the missing people plotted on the seating chart I will give the maitre 'd next week, but I didn't pay for them last night.

I would be honest with them. Mostly likely they will only make you pay if the maybe's show up

Thanks everyone. I dont mind paying if indeed they do show up but since we are so over the minimum I would hate to give them anymore money then we had to. I know I wont get it back once paid. I will just explain the different situations to them once I go give them the placecards.

We are giving the minimum because if we go over we will pay the day of.

I think that as long as you make your minium count it shouldn't be a big deal for a few extra's just in case. I think they should understand especially if you are paying them for everything excpet the couple of extra's. I don't see it being to big of a deal.
