Finalized the Ceremony - RAVE!!!
Sorry this is a bit long, but worth it I think... We met with our priest last night and finalized our ceremony! My FH and I have been truly blessed with the priest that will be marrying us. We were so nervous when we were going to first meet with him back in early November - we just had no idea what to expect and heard all this stuff about FOCCUS tests, questionnaires etc. But turns out we were worried for nothing!
We've had SUCH a great experience with our priest and I just needed to share. We've met with our priest basically once a month since November. The first meeting was just the basic questions (names, addresses, ever been married before, etc etc). Then we met to take our FOCCUS test, then we met two times after that to go over potential issues that were shown on the test results. Afterwards we met one time each to choose the Old Testament Reading, New Testament Reading, and the Gospel. And we met last night to go over the entire ceremony.
But more importantly, the first half hour to an hour of each of our meetings, he asked us what God has been doing in our lives and basically this was an opportunity for us to discuss any issues or experiences we'd had since our last meeting. Our priest is SOOO very intuitive and has such a way with words. He has an uncanny ability to really SEE the true issue at hand and make us see it and understand it further. He's helped us with so many little things and it's really made us grow as a couple and not only understand each other better, but also understand different things in our lives better. One example is that my FH's dog is very sick now and it's been a very difficult time for the last couple of months - last night he was able to make my FH and me see things in a more positive way.
There are other things also, but to not make this any longer than it already is, I just have to say that our priest has truly been a blessing sent from God to us. We were kinda sad that last night was our last meeting! Of course we're free to see him again if we want, but we do not have to until the actual rehearsal. I feel that he's helped prepare us for our MARRIAGE not just for the wedding - and that's what's really important.
I truly hope that each and everyone of you lovely ladies has a great experience with your officiant! Whether it's a priest, minister, judge, ordained friend, whatever - I wish you all to be blessed as I feel that we have.
