FINALLY! church is okay!

I had been having problems with my church--when I spoke with deacon on the phone he had asked me to change my wedding date 3 times because I wasn't giving the church 6 months notice (FH and I got engaged in Sept. and are planning wedding for Feb because we live in different countries and would like to live in the same one sooner rather than later, plus it Feb. 21 is the only date BOTH his parents can make it to the states before the summer). We had called several churches to see what their policy is on marrying non-parishoners and they were all very rude!!! It's so frustrating--does the Catholic Church want to retain members or what? They make it so difficult to 'do the right thing' by getting married in the church in the first place!

anyway, called the church my brother just got married at to ask about pre-cana and they were so nice that I asked if I could just married there. The woman said I would need to speak with the deacon. well, he called me right away and even though we did play a bit of phone tag, once I got to speak with him he was so wonderful and warm and welcoming!! So, we're just going to get married there! Yeah! I'm so happy that's done!
