But I don't know anything about booking them. Tell me about your European cruise experiences! Thanks!

I haven't taken one, but have travelled extensively around the Mediterranean Coast.

A cruise there should be very nice!

we are doing one! what would you like to know?
ours is a bit over the top since we have a lot of time off, but Costa Cruises are renowned in Europe and are not very expensive. When we were looking it was like $1500 pp for 10 days. However, Costa is like a European experience and I believe Italian is the first language on the ship, with English being second. It has a very European feel.
Princes Cruises are amazing as well - and obviously its a popular line.
We are using Holland America and will be visiting ITaly, Spain, France, Tunisia, Croatia, Greece & Turkey over the span of 20 days.
Google Mediterranean cruises - so many search engines will pop up and see which ones match your date and what looks good. if you want more help, you can always ask a TA for more info

What would you like to know? FH & I spent the month of September 2010 in Europe celebrating his 31st b-day... We went on a repositioning cruise for 1/2 the trip (14nights).

We left from Denmark, landed in Venice and visited Sweden. Amsterdam,Brugges, Normandy, Mont St. Michel, Cartagena, and Malaga Spain, Malta, Croatia, Florence...

It was my first time in Europe and it was a great 1st experience...

We liked it SO much, we booked our Honeymoon Cruise, while we were on the Birthday cruise.... Our HM Cruise is not Med. it's transatlantic!

I did a European cruise on the Norwegian Jewel in August 2007 - 7 days left from Barcelona and did 4 ports in Italy and also did Nice in France.

Ask away

Starboard or Port side? Does it matter?

We were told not to pick a room on the front of the ship bc more chance for motion sickness...

Anyone else have recommendations for particular cruise lines/ships?

We want something 7-10 days because of FH's vacation availabliity.

port or starboard side does not matter

i personally like to travel in the middle of the ship

the back of the ship rumbles, the front of the ship you hear and feel the anchors coming down when you're in port

Re: Finally convinced FH a Mediterranean cruis might be a great HM idea

We're doing an 11 night Royal Caribbean cruise leaving 10/3. The price of our cruise went down $1,600 from when we booked to now bc it had an overnight in Egypt. We're paying a little of $3K for a balcony room. We're going to Rome, Sicily, Istanbul, Ephesus Turkey, Athens, Rhodes Greece and Crete Greece. Then spending 2 nights in Rome.

I was surprised how much airline tix are to Rome. FIL's used their points but it would have been roughly $1K per person.

I've never been on a cruise before but my TA said that if you can you want to be on the PORT side because you'll see the port when you enter/leave. Also, be aware what's on the floor above/below you. Some cruiselines it could be noisy if you are below the pool deck or dining room, for example.

I've never done Mediterranean cruise - but def check out Roayl Caribbean, Princess or Celebrity. Those are the three best!

And I second the advice of the other posts - check what's above you AND next to you. You don't want to be below the pool OR next to the theatre or even above the theatre.

Plus, go with middle of the ship. Side doesn't matter.

We are doing a Mediterranena cruise in June. We get married on 6/11, then take a red eye on 6/18 into Barcelone on 6/19. It's a 12 night cruise and we will visit Spain, Rome, Naples, Mykonos, Athens, Storini, Tukey and Malta. I can not wait!!!!

We are on Celebrity. It's pricey but we are doing a stateroom and balcony and from what i hear they are one of the best lines...

Never been on a cruise so we are pumped!
