Woohoo!! Maui is my FAVE! So much to do!
Definitely check out Haleakala. You drive up to the top and check out the sunrise. I did the sunset and when FH went back, he said the sunrise was much more impressive!
Also, make sure to rent a Jeep, NOT a sedan. Do the road to Hana. It is a windy, twisty, turny road but it takes you through the most beautiful spots in Maui. The Jeep will help when you get towards the end because there's some off-roading.
In Kauai, Kyack! It's a lot of fun!

I usually try and use the hotel desks for excursions..I also usually pick up a bunch of guide books when I travel

My friend went there for her honeymoon, and she did it herself too, so she just told me her itinerary and I tweaked it a little (she went to Oahu and we're doing the Big Island).
