So, I had dropped off my engagement ring at the jewerler two weeks ago to get 'fitted' and I finally got it back yesterday

I am telling you....you get so used to the ring that when you don't have it for a while, it feels like you are 'naked'. It' is silly because a ring is a ring...well, maybe not this one, but is still a material. The love you have for each other is really more valuable than anything else.

My ring was originally my future mother in law 's ring. We were at his family's annual Easter brunch, when one of his sisters had asked his mother a question in regards to her ring. I don't know how it happened, but suddenly the ring was being passed around all the females and they were all trying it on. At this point my FH and I had been dating for a little over two years. When the ring 'got' to me, I didn't know if I should had tried it on and get my 'hope-up', so I decided to pass it on to his cousin. Everybody was watching me at that point (there were about 30 people there). As I passed the ring on, his sisters were like 'NO!!! You must try it on as well'. So, I did It fit perfectly and it was very nice. His parents are celebrating their 50 year anniversary next month

Anyway, so the ring finally got back to his mother and she happens to make the following comment 'When you are ready to get married, then you can have the ring' Of course at this point, I am like 'Oh my God!! He will be proposing soon ' Well, I was wrong I waited and waited. A month went buy. Two, three, four months and nothing So, I decided to stop thinking about it.

In August of last year, we went away to Puerto Rico on vacation. I grew up in Puerto Rico and we decided to make a stop at my hometown. Of course, I was sunburned on this particular day I burn easily for some reason. I was looking like a lobster ...I kid you not. So, my loving fiance decides to take a walk around town on this extremely hot day. My hometown is located at the south side of Puerto Rico which is the Caribbean side and the hottest side. Have you ever been sunburned and then gone again under the sun the following day? Let me tell you....it feels like you are been cooked alive

Anyway, so he decided to take a walk around the plaza and take photos of everything. We were walking with my ten year old daughter (from a previous relationship). When we arrived in front of the church I used to attend for years as a child, he suddenly decides to take a photo of my daughter and I in front of it. Mind you...it is like 100 + degrees at this point.. It was mid-day and the sun was high. I was so aggravated by this point (due to the sunburn) that I was being not to nice to him

As he was looking for the camera, he pretended to drop something on the floor. My daughter (who did not know anything about the proposal) was trying to show me something across the plaza. So, I looked away from what he was doing. When we turned back around to speak to him, he was on one knee (in the really hot cement floor of the plaza) proposing to both my daughter and I.

I almost 'passed-out'. I was not expecting it at all. I even forgot to say yes My daughter did not say a word. We were both in shock. As we later spoke about it, he told me he was really nervous before he proposed, but once he saw our faces of shock, he was no longer nervous. He actually found it quite funny.

Of course, the ring was his mother's ring. The one that I had tried on last Easter. The thing is that the ring seemed to be a little too big for me in Puerto Rico. I waited a while to have it 'fitted' because I was under the impression that it might fit at some point, but it didn't. I was also worried about who to take the ring to, for fear they might remove the stone (it is worth $$$$), although it is insured. I decided to go to his family jewerler with his mother in order to have the work done. The jewerler has been a friend of the family for over 20 years.
We were supposed to have the ring back in a couple of days, but we live in Brooklyn and the jewereler (and in law's) live in Old Westbury. We were supposed to try to pick it up last Saturday, but my FH got the flu and we were unable to. Finally, we were able to pick it up yesterday..YAY!! I am so happy!!!!

Looking forward to marrying the love of my life in five months
