Finally settled on menu!
We recently had a meeting with John Anthony`s to go over some things for our fast approaching wedding. We just thought we were going over things, not choosing! And it worked out great!! Here`s why .. we didn`t have days to agonize over what to do .. we needed to choose. We had been having a hard time deciding what to do for the main entree. I liked the idea of the tri-place, which is filet mignon, chicken and butterfly shrimp that is served to everyone .. unless they are allergic to fish, then the shrimp is substituted. But I didn`t know the chicken or beef could not be substituted by our guests til this meeting. So we went with the other option .. our guests will have the choice of a chicken/beef combination plate, which they can make substitutions, or they can choose the poached salmon. Of what we needed to make selections on .. this is what we chose... First off, let me say the cocktail hour is going to be HUGE. There is so much food on this list!! Of the buffet stations we get, we`re going with chicken croquettes, Eggplant Sicilian, Steak Pizzaiola, Stuffed Cabbage, Kielbasi and Bratwurst. For the pasta station, we chose bread baskets, Rigatoni Filletto (fresh tomato, Proscuitto, and Basil) and Penne Giuseppe Verdi (grilled chicken, Radicchio, Garlic and Oil). For the carving station, we chose Roast Vermont Turkey served with raspberry sauce, and London Broil, sliced onto garlic bread. Appetizer is mozzarella, tomatoes and grilled vegatables over baby greens. Hot Appetizer is spinach and ricotta crepe. Dinner, served with fresh vegatables and potato, fresh baked rolls and butter, will be a choice of Filet Mignon & Chicken Boscaiola (grilled chicken breast with mushrooms, tomato, prosciutto and brandy), or poached salmon. Vegetarian & Kosher are available. And like I said, guests will be able to have all beef or all chicken, if they don`t like the idea of the combination plate. Our cake will be yellow cake, with chocolate mousse filling and whipped cream icing. I`ve seen other places leave the cake out all night, but to my relief John Anthony`s doesn`t do that. I`m sure a cake sitting out for a couple of hours isn`t too bad, but I really like the idea of it being wheeled into the room .. it just seems more dramatic that way! :) And finally, as if that weren`t enough, we`re having an ice cream bar for dessert.

Everything sounds great!! I have heard nothing but good things about their food. I have a question about the cake...Did they offer many choices for what the outside looks like? I never asked about this and I am curious!!

The cake...
That was the last thing we talked about. We were shown some pictures of cakes, and we pointed out the one we liked best. As for the intricate detail on the side of the cake, we didn`t really get into that. We were asked if we wanted any color piping on the cake, and said no, but that`s really all we discussed. I guess if we had any special requests, we could have made them, but we liked the picture we saw and just put our faith in their baker for the little details on the cake. We have a caketopper and will have some roses placed on the tiers of the cake, which will be 4-tiered. Hope this helps.Welcome New Vendors
