Well, many of you know that FH and I are going into contract on a house. We have been talking over and over about the best way to join our finances. We have joint bank accounts already and pay some bills together but nothing big so far.
Just wondering how you and your FH handle your finances and the easiest way to ease into this.

Re: Finances
we have a joint account and we pay all of our bills from there. i dont find it difficult. it definitely makes you more aware of how you spend/ waste money. i feel like i am more cautious with spending now that our money is combined. hth

Re: Finances
We just actually started putting all our money into one account we have had a joint account for the last 4 years but we always had separate accounts also, its so much easier to have it all together!

Re: Finances
As of right now, I think we have decided to keep our separate accounts and deposit an equal amount into our joint just to pay all of our bills.
We have listed all of the bills we pay now and estimated all of the bills we will pay with the house. We also added in food, gas, emergency fund, etc.

Re: Finances
we have had a joint account forever and we do everything from there..
we also have a joint savings that we transfer money into all the time as well
one person should be in charge of the bill paying though so things dont get too confusing..we ran into a huge problem with this so now i handle all the bills and fh makes the bacon..lol

We've had a joint account (both checking & savings) forever - but we maintain separate accounts. I used to handle his own account too coz he couldn't manage it But I thought he should learn so now he manages his own.
We contribute equal amounts to the joint account.
Hope that helps!
Thanks. I think this is what we are going to do too. I really think it will help us keep track of our spending too. This way we can add up the little things like $3 on coffee of $8 on a salad for lunch.
