Is anyone else contemplating taking out a loan to pay for the wedding? I'm not sure if I should but it's becoming more of an apparent option so FH and I wouldn't have to worry as much...but the interest would be a b*tch... I'm probably the only one thinking like this... UGH...

Re: financial woes
We talked about it but we really don't want to. It's in the back of our minds as a last resort. Part of me thinks if we did it now we could start paying it now and not worry about the saving.
We probably wont do it though.

Re: financial woes
We technically are I guess. FH is still in professional school, so he took out the max loans. The interest rate isn't as bad on student loans tho.. But I def do feel your financial pain

Re: financial woes
It looks like we are going to be okay (somehow!) but I've taken out loans in the past. If you do this I suggest that you check out Teachers Federal (you don't have to be a teacher)or another credit union becuase their rates are usually good and wait as long as possible, there is no point in paying interest until you have to good luck!

Is there a family member you could borrow from. This might work out better than a real loan

Re: financial woes
We're not taking out a loan thanks to various generous family members but I am actually a supervisor at Teachers Federal Credit Union and we do offer very low personal loans along with some of the lowest rate credit cards you can find. Feel free to message me if you need info and i'll help you out.

This wasn't an option in our minds. We just re-adjusted our budget, cut people and shopped around for great vendors.

Re: financial woes
FH and I thought about it but I dont want a constant reminder in the mail after the wedding in regards to how much the wedding costs considering its already a loss for us .... if we get gifts, GREAT! but im not banking on anything but us...
we have 11mths to go... let the sacrificies begin!!

I have to agree. I think starting out married life is hard enough, and most arguments tend to stem from financial problems... If you can avoid adding a loan for the wedding you'll be better off. I would cut out the extras and just shop around for better deals if possible or take up a second job to save more... Plus i think it would be a constant reminder of how much you spent on the wedding (that would be a real source of argument for FH and I as he thinks I spend too much as it is... Forget about it, everytime I'd buy a pair of shoes or something after the wedding I'd have to hear about how much we still owe!)

Re: financial woes
FH and I thought about a loan, but we are just scrimping and saving every last penny...no take out, no movies, no shopping, etc., and trying to find the cheapest vendors without compromising quality. I have anxiety attacks about it every couple of days lol ...but in the end it should work out!!
Good luck!!

Re: financial woes
i found a zero percent credit card for 18 months so we got that to help -thankfully the limit is like 6000 so if we run short of cash we can use that as backup. The card was chase slate- maybe you could get that??

Re: financial woes
Actually, we are using my leftover loans from school last year to pay for the HM. But I don't know that I would go take a loan out to finance the wedding?

Re: financial woes
ugh. . . i wish. I have too much debt as it is!!! My stupid student loans are ripping me a new one (if you get what I'm saying!) There's NO way I would be able to add on to how much I already owe each month. It's actually absurd!
