Ok so basically FH and I are alone when it comes to the wedding reception, my mom can't afford to give me anything and his parents cant either. We kinda wanted to do things ourselves anyway. So when we booked the hall we were told we had to come up with payments every other month. Basically financing the hall...
Anyone else doing it? And how do you feel about it. I'm a little bit under pressure but it makes me feel proud to work for it. I know Im a weirdo!

my best friend is doing that, i think. shes getting married at mediterranean manor (i probably spelled that wrong), but i vaguely remember her telling me that she pays them like that... like she had to pay $500 one month, and a different amount the next month... im not 100% sure though so dont take my word for it..
i have no personal experience with it... ive barely started to look because we're getting married in Florida and as ive heard, things run completely differently down there.

my best friend is getting married in a year and she is doing that with her rh. every other month she puts money down as it gets closer to the date she puts more money down.

Yeah i feel bad FH has been working overtime to pay! I cut my lunch hour down to a half hour everyday-my job blows we dont get paid for lunch!!

We are paying ourselves too. Stinks. We put a couple thousand down when we booked, have to make a payment on Jan 15, 2008, another one on July 15, 2008 and then pay the rest 2 weeks prior. This holiday season is going to be rough. I hope my family doesn't expect gifts.

Im a JT bride too, i guess since i have a shorter amount of time until the wedding my payments are closer together. We paid the deposit, then 2 months later another installment, then 2 months after that then another one following the next month, then we have 3 months until our next payment in september, then it will be every other month. After that we'll have paid half of the bill and the balance is due 2 weeks before

We're doing that too. Little payments here and there. Our Wedding Coordinator is on a payment plan too! THats why we are getting married in 09, more time to pay!

We are paying for ours too! Financing all the way ours goes up in increments and then is not due until two weeks before and then the day of i believe.

We are paying for our wedding too!
We actually got a really good price plan...every 5 months we pay $1500 and the balance is due the week of the wedding.

Yep it does feel pretty good to say we did it ourselves. I mean it woulda been nice to have it paid for us and all but we can pretty much do whatever we want to do without anyone bothering us. So wow I just realized 3 jericho terrace brides all paying for it themselves

Not that im saying anything about the girls here who are receiving any type of help! Just wanted to clear that one up. I give everyone on this board lots of credit to be very involved and organized with their wedding. Every part of the wedding is hard work, not just the bill ya know?

we are doing the same. We have payments every month, but we chose to have it that way b/c it was easier for us.

we made payments every month...$400 a month then $1,000 the last two months leaving a total of $4600 until paying the final deposit 2 weeks b4.

We are paying for 'most' of the wedding our self but, I dont think that is a bad idea because my hall doesnt want anything after the down payment until a year later they want 25%. I think I might send them small amounts anyway because its better than having one big bill in a year

i thought of sending them additional money or giving more for the down payment. However, we opened an online savings account at HSBC and the interest is pretty good so instead we keep it in savings and earn interest on the money.

I was just going to post a question about this b/c FH and I are also paying for everything and I want to start looking at places soon and I wanted to figure out how the payments work. So thanks DonnaPWhite1124!
