Finding cancelled dates
Has anyone heard of calling up reception halls and asking them if they have any cancellations? I heard that this is a way to save money. It sounds risky, but I'm wondering how much you really save.

Finding cancelled dates
it would seem the only way to save money is to take a date thats coming up really soon. then how would you plan? a cancellation 10 months from now could probably be booked by the hall anytime.good luck!

It has happened
get this story--they had the cottage booked--cancelled the wedding-- then decided to get married--rebooked the cottage--same date but because it was later they got a better deal---seems unreal--but it happened to my (ex) rommates brother-- so it is worth a shot--you never know until you try-- do you have specific places in mind that you like? Well, I know of a cancelled date in May!
of course, it will only work if you are Jewish ;-) We had to move our wedding up (to 2 weeks ago!!) due to my father in law's health. It was originally set for May 4, 2002 at Shelter Rock Jewish Center in Roslyn. If you are interested, let me know (I'll get $ back too if they re-book the date ;-) ) Our wedding was absolutely perfect and beautiful - they really know how to throw an amazing affair. Good luck!

Watermill in late June
My friend cancelled his engagement and it is positively-completely off. I think if it rebooks they aren't responsible for more payments. (That's what helps me not feel guilty about writing this) It was on a Friday. Email me for more info [email protected]

Finding cancelled dates
Our cancelled date at the Port Jefferson Country Club is still available. It's 8-16-02. It sounds like I already mentioned that, but oh well, I forgot if I did or not. Good luck!

Finding cancelled dates
As for prices...a friend of mine was engaged in May 2001 and found a cancelled date for Aug 2001...Swan Club for Sat afternoon $55...when I looked at the Swan Club for summer 2002 (I would think the prices go up) Sat afternoon was $57. So Im not sure if she got a deal or not, but either way Swan Club is a great place for the money (I'm not getting married there - so please don't say Im a vendor) I called my hall in September to see if I could get a Sat night, instead of a Sunday and they said all booked...so it really depends on what hall..Welcome New Vendors
