fine china

fh and i went looking around yesterday to get ideas of what we'd like to register for. some of the prices i saw for place settings for the fine china were outrageous.

i saw a pattern i LOVED and it was $125. a setting, is that too much? about right? FH and I are both really confused.

Mine is $129 per setting. It is Vera Wang Blanc Sur Blanc.

I personally don't think $125 is too much.

That's about average.

FH and I didn't register for fine china. We asked all our family and friends and couldn't find ONE couple who'd used theirs in the past 12 months. I'd rather have people spend $1500 on stuff I'll actually use.

mine was 250 dollars a setting.....I got all the place settings and some serving dishes....the rest will be gifts from FH and mom for the next 5-10 years.....

that is true....I just liked how my aunt passed her china onto my cousin. My mom didn't have anything to pass on so thats what she bought all of us for our engagement

I like this one too. Waterford Padova was another that we liked -- I gave FH the final pick because I couldn't decide (seems to be a pattern with me )

at my house my mom always used it so it depends. If you don't think you'll ever use it then i see the whole point about why get it. I think i just got used to how my mom did things so i know i'll definitely use it.

Thats about average for most china. The setting you picked is very pretty.

Re: fine china

Mine is $115 per setting. I have a big Italian family and my Mom and my Aunt both use their place settings at least 6 times a year. FH and I want to get more use out of them, so we were thinking that once we have our first home, we'll have our parents over for a 'fancy dinner' once a month. We'll see if it actually happens.
