Fine China

How do you pick fine china / pattern?

What's a good brand?

What's the difference between all the different types of china? (i.e bone china, etc)

Sorry I'm clueless!

Re: Fine China

everyone has their favorites.

I let FH pick our china because i didn't care really.

Ours is waterford, which is really a crystal brand but we like it.

I think that best advice is to pick a trustworthy name.

some hot ones are:

royal doulton
wedgewood
noritake

I originally registered for China but then took it off...
I doubt I'll use it at all within the first couple of years, so I'd rather people buy me things that I really need.

Ours is waterford . The best thing to do is go to a few department stores and find a pattern you like. It is much better to see it in person then online IMO to see the detail

Mine are Noritake. I love the pattern. Actually, what I did was I showed FH some from Lenox that I liked, and he didn't like them. So then I let him choose 3 designs of anything he liked, and I chose the one I liked the best from those 3.

I did the Wedgewood Vera Wang pattern!

Bone china is supposedly the strongest. It is made up of oxen bone! (Yuck). When we were in BB&B the lady made us stand on a tea cup! CRAZY but it did not break!
