how much does it cost the ones you put on your registry?
All the ones I like seems to be 130-150 bucks for a place setting
ETA: How many place settings are you supposed to order?

Re: FINE CHINA
Mine cost $125 for the 5-piece though I'm sure they will go on sale (or manufacturers run sales where the soup plate is free when you buy a 5-piece setting). I'm getting service for 12, which I think is pretty typical. If you have a very small family, you might be able to get away with 8. It it's exceptionally large, then go for 16.
My future mil is purchasing service for 8 for us; we are going to East Side China in Brooklyn because they will give us a 6-piece place setting for $95. Also check out Michael C. Fina - they threw in the soup plate for free for my set.

Re: FINE CHINA
I think that sounds about right. We haven't found fine china that we love yet, but our everyday is about $90 per place setting. Our dessert-wear is about 80 for just the cup, saucer, and plate.
eta: You should register for 12.

Re: FINE CHINA
I was very torn about the china, there were so many beautiful ones but did not want people to spend 125 a setting when I dont even know how much i will use it. I ended up choosing one for $50, its simple white with a platinum band(mikasa cameo platinum). I loved that it would go with everything and it looked the same as some that were 125. I already have most of it bought off my registry! So check out some of the cheaper ones, I thought it was a good compromise(you still get china but its not super expensive).

Mine is $125 per 5-piece place setting. I registered for 12 settings. I put it on the Macy's registry, and they're constantly putting coupons in the newspapers or giving them to cardholders. Also, they do a lot of promotions.....Actually Macys just called my mom the other day to tell her that they were doing a promo on my china that if you buy 3 settings you get one free. Or if you buy 1 setting, you get a soup bowl. Guess they want her to start telling people

Re: FINE CHINA
Macy's always has promotions on their china...They also have complete sets that include something like 8 place setting and some bowl and plates and stuff. When we were registered for fine china we were registered for a full 8 person set from Macy's, normal price was something like $700, but when it was on sale $200. Then we just asked for 4 single person place settings and all the completer stuff. We just switched from registering for fine china to everyday china (in addition to our regular plates and stuff) just that way we would be more inclined to use it for things and also so our guests would buy it for us ($100 for a complete set of casual china, how can you go wrong with that!!??)

Mine is $165 per 5-piece place setting. I registered for 12 settings. Its from Macys & at this very moment its on sale for $109 per 5-piece place setting. I also noticed that they where running a promotion last week where if you purchased 3 place settings, you received one for free.
my bigger concern is the serving pieces for my fine china. like the 15' platter is regularly $245.00. i already told FH we may end up having to finish the set. but we will see what happens.

Re: FINE CHINA
My china is from Macy's. It actually comes in a huge 42 piece set, which includes 8 place settings. It costs $400 but goes on sale for $200! We put two of them on our registry, so 16 place settings in all, because it was cheaper to do it that way.
