should I register for Fine China?? my mom wants to buy us the entire set (she did the same thing for my sister) but I just feel like I will never use them.......ugh!
Should I just wait until we get a house and then have her buy them for us?? SInce we don't know if we will be in a house or apartment in the beginning, I just feel like they will sit and collect dust in the boxes, JUST LIKE MY SISTERS, 3.5 years later!!
did you guys register for fine china or do you guys think its somewhat a waste??
I doubt that if we have my parens over for dinner or some friends, we will be breaking out the fine china for some steak and potatoes.....

Re: FINE CHINA ?
I registered for fine china, because I've always wanted it. I also would like to host a holiday sometime soon - actually I might start taking on Easter. So I'd love to have fancy dinnerware if I'm going to host Easter dinner.

Re: FINE CHINA ?
my mom bought my entire fine china set... i already have xmas booked for our house (turkey day at fsils) so i know theyll def get use.
if you dont think youll use them i would hold off on buying them... maybe your mom can get you guys some furniture instead, like the kitchen table or something?

Re: FINE CHINA ?
i only registered for it bc my coworker convinced me. right now fh and i live in a 2 bedroom apt and will probably stay there for another 4 yrs... we dont have a dining room nor space for the fine china...
however, in our nxt home we will hopefully have room for a china closet and dining room set... i'm hoping we'll use our china then
in the meantime though, it will be collecting dust...hehe

Re: FINE CHINA ?
its not so much that I dont want the fine china, I think its just that since we don't know if we will have a house by then, i feel like I should wait until we get a house and then get the china....no way I will break out fine china in an apartment?

Re: FINE CHINA ?
If you know you're going to use them, then I don't think it's a waste, but if you're just registering for them bc that's what brides do.... then it might be...
Think about if you'll use it or not...... That's all...
I haven't decided if I'mgoing to register for any... I already have some from a family friend who isn't going to use it anymore.... BUT my mom has like 4 sets and I love that she can decide which to use when she has company!!! Where would I get another set if not from my mom??? It's not like I would buy it myself at some point.

Re: FINE CHINA ?
we registered for fine china because we already host holidays & we really need it.
if you do not host any holidays yet then i think you are better off waiting until you get a house.

Re: FINE CHINA ?
i thought it was a waste but when we went to register i decided i wanted SOMETHING a little nicer than everyday wear. we got the Mikasa Parchment set ... it's a 40 piece set (8 place settings) for like $189 or something like that. I couldn't see registering for something that was $120 a set when I didn't really want or need it that badly. the parchment set is so pretty too, you can't even tell it's cheaper than others! it's on my registry if you want to look at it

Re: FINE CHINA ?
I hear what your saying but in my opinion I would register for it. It's tradition for me too that my mom buys the china, I registered for it but I know that my mom will buy it for me. Originally my FH was saying the samething 'why do we need china we're probably gonna be in an apartment, blah blah blah' but ya know what I feel like it's tradition and plus I want it! Even if I have to keep it at my parents house in storage for a year or so I wanna know that when I finally do buy a house that I'll have my china!

Re: FINE CHINA ?
We registered for it...if I have people over for dinner I want something nicer than our everyday plates to serve them on...and its the sort of thing where I'd bring them out for birthdays and stuff as well.

i didn't want super formal china but my mom wanted us to get. we picked out a casual china set from kate spade. also really cute and still a little more schmacy than everyday plates
