I´m not really about Fine China. They are too expensive and I feel they would break too easily. I am looking for something a little nicer than my everyday dishes but not too expensive.
We found these by Mikasa. I like them because they´re different. But theres no serving dishes that come in the set. (Plus my mom says she saw them and they were too flat. She was afraid her food would slip off.) My main questions is for the 'china' or guest dinnerware, is it best when the set comes with its own serving ware? Or do yu think I can just get generic servingware that is nice and doesn´t clash?
Glass or silver serving dishes would go great with those...and any other dishes you might have!

I am not going with 'FINE' china either... I feel it is a waste of 2-3 Grand when i can add other things to my registry that i might actually use more then 5 times in a lifetime,or like you said just be afraid to use lol. We are looking into an everyday china set called Lenox Tesoro. It is really nice, and still reasonable. I cant have my family and friends buy one place setting that costs over 120-130-140 dollars, that i would be afraid to use. I feel at least with this set i would get more use out of it. Not everyday, but company, holidays, get-to-gethers and stull like that.
I totally agree with you We went with the Mikasa French Countryside set because is fancy enough and has its own serverware to match...

I'm not sure if you saw them in person or just online but I would recommend you look at them in person before making decisions. Sometimes dishes have weird textures/coatings or not the right 'feel', or, like your mom mentioned, just not be proportioned practically. As for the serving pieces, you don't have to have them match. You could make a fun mix-and-match. I love the glass accessories from the Bormiolo Michelangelo line from bed bath and beyond (sugar, creamer, gravy boat, serving bowl) - they match everything and are sleek looking.

I really wish I could see them in person!! My prob is that I live in South America. The only time I´ll be back in the states before the wedding is end of oct/beg of nov. Because of this my shower has to be Nov 7th. So I can´t wait until I get to us to register b.c it won´t give people time to buy the gifts!! It suks!! I was so frustrated at first but had to realize theres nothing else I can do.
I just have to decide online and then hope I like it. Worst case scenario I can just return/exchange them. I live so far away that I don´t think anyone will know . . . ssshhhh!!
As for the set you mentioned. They are really nice!!
