Fingerprints for a new job?

I found a new waitressing job in the city. I guess its good news but I feel weird about the security check. Why in the hell do they need my fingerprints! Not that I have anything to hide I guess Im just paranoid. Anyone ever heard of getting your fingers printed for a security check on a NON-government job?

i have heard of a few places doing things like this...its to make sure you are who you say you are ...not stealing someones identity.

Oh okay. I feel a little better now. I just thought it was kind of crazy for just a waitressing job. But IM gonna do it anyway. Cant afford to be picky at this point.

Anyone else find this strange or normal. I didnt go do the security check tody cause Im still a little paranoid about people having my fingerprints on file!!!

I never heard of that for a waitressing job , I ve heard of background checks.

I never heard of it for a waitressing job too. My friend said that a lot of places have been doing this since a while back when someone was raped at a club. I guess that makes sense.

I've never heard of it either for a waitressing job. I had to get fingerprinted once, no big deal...

You don't plan on committing on crimes so you're good.

I had to give my fingerprints for my job. Its for security purposes. Alot of places do that now.

im with you, i dont think i would want 2 do it either....my fingerprints arent on any records & id like 2 keep it that way. (unless i get arrested )

i've done it for several jobs.
it doesnt bother me b/c i have nothing to hide and i find comfort knowing that places do intensive background checks on employees
