Finished our Pre-Cana
And we both can honestly say we enjoyed it!! We got alot out of it. The ending was the best part. They asked us to write letters to our partners they collected them to give us them yesterday after mass. We walked in with the procession in front of the Priest. (That part made me nervous as hell) then they asked us to stand up & they had a special blessing for the couples. The whole church clapped. Then at the end of mass they gave us the letters. My FH told me everything I needed to hear. I started crying from the first sentence!! Then we went into the rectory where they had appetizers, soda & wine. And we stayed for about 45 min just talking to the other couple & the priest. And then (like all this wasn't enough) The church gave us a gold cross w/ weddng bands in the middle as a gift. We really had the best experience. I hope the rest of you enjoy it as much as we did!!

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
IrishTracySounds like a great parish. We are trying to get in touch with RVC to do the Interfaith one, but they never return my calls.
Glad you had a good experience

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
How long did your pre cana run? I've heard 1 day, weekend, I think mine is 1 night a week for about 2 months.

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
Hey IrishTracy,We had a similar experience with pre-cana and felt we got a lot out of it too! We really enjoyed it. We also had a similiar mass to what you described, and got a cross with wedding bands as well! The only thing is that when we went up to the priest during mass he asked us, in front of everyone, if we were old enough to get married (in a joking way!). My FH and I know we don't look out age and are often mistaken for 8-10 years younger than we actually are! Then, as we were going to the brunch the priest asked us again in a joking way!

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
We just started ours last week, it's 2hrs once a week for 3 weeks. We really enjoyed the first session, the guy teaching the sessions is really down to earth, it's actually a couple teaching it but his wife wasn't there last week. There are actually alot of couples in our class. Our experience so far has been fun. I really enjoyed the exercises they make you do in the workbook to see how well you know each other.

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
we have to go one night a week, 2 hours a night, for 5 weeks. we have 3 sessions left. The last session is a mass held for the 4 engaged couples. Its not as bad as we thought!

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
Ours was Every Monday in the month of Sept. for 2 hours. The workbook was fun (& sometimes difficult) But it DOES help you in the long run. I think if you do it all in one day w/ like 50 other couples it's not enjoyable. My friend did it that way & she hated it. They thought it was a day wasted!

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
Ours was very similar, although we did the one day session. At the end of the day, they did the 'hands' reading, which had me in tears. At the mass afterwards, the priest introduced us to the congregation and then had us all up on the altar with him. He had every girl give him their e-ring and he blessed them all. Then they gave them back to the guys, and had them say a special vow as they put the ring back on our fingers. At the end they had us all line up in the aisle 2 by 2 and they played the wedding recessional as we walked out. We got the cross with the wedding bands also. The whole experience was too cute!It was such a special day for us - made it feel so real!

Re: Finished our Pre-Cana
Glad to hear that you got so much out of your Pre-Cana!!Alot of people look at it as a chore, but FH and I really enjoyed ours. We've been together for a looong time, lived together for almost three years...we didn't think we'd learn anything, but we did. Even now, months later, we still talk about issues brought up at pre-cana. We also keep touch with the couple who lead our program.
