Finished pre-cana

Finished pre-cana

We had to do pre-cana friday 7:30-9:30 and saturday 9-5 but we got out at 4pm...i actually enjoyed it...friday night they just did a mass, spoke to us a little bit and gave us an assignment for the next day, we had to write eachother a love letter and they gave us a sheet and it started off 'i want to spend the rest of my life with you because...'

Saturday-the couple we had was great, i was shocked how open they were talking about sex even FH was shocked and the husband was histerical. We weren't asked any personal questions...They talked about how they met, the troubles they went through in their marriage, what they do to fix those problems...The couple each spoke about a time in their lives when they lost faith in god, each different times and they werent pushy at all, this was interfaith pre-cana and they said that as long as you believe in god it doesnt matter what religion you are, religion is just the way YOU choose to practice your belief in god and that we were all created by one god, so i was pleasantly surprised by their views since its how i feel. They made us do some exercises which we interesting, they were about 'how well do you know eachother' so it was interesting to see eachothers answers after. They even went over the vows with us to truly understand what they mean, we had to hold hands and say the vows to eachother. The couple spoke about self-esteem too and how its important to have your own high self esteem in a relationship, things to make it work and basically things of that nature. It wasnt bad at all and even Fh said so, he even kept yelling out answers when they asked questions and nobody wanted to answer lol, he was proud of himself bc they asked 'when does foreplay begin' ppl said stuff but fh yelled out 'when you wake up' and he was right lol.

They spoke very openly about sex, there was alot of discussion also about family interferring and the husband told us a story about having sex on the couch in the house lol or the mother in law visiting and they'd be upstairs having sex and just in general they were very open.

So i know alot of girls are a little worried about pre-cana but it was actually very good and you might learn some things lol.

yeah i really liked the couple we had, they were married 37 years and when he was up talking i was looking at the wife on the side and the whole time you would see her smiling or shaking her head at crazy things he was saying but laughing it off and you can see the admiration in her eyes, it was real sweet. They even brought their wedding album for us to look at

I am so glad you enjoyed pre cana as much as we did!

and I so admire the way our 'pre cana couple' still interacted after six kids and all those years of marriage - it is so inspirational!

Ours was probably a little different, b/c it was 7 weeks for 2 hours, so we got to know the ppl in the group pretty well.

Thanks for sharing, we took our FOCCUS test last night and will be starting Pre-Cana soon, my FH is NOT looking forward to it at all and I'm afraid he is going to come off rude but his apparent disinterest...I'll have to share your story with him...thanks again!

I'm glad others feel the same way, there's nothing to worry / stress out about the Precana experience. FH and I were also both pleasantly surprised and though it flew by! There were many issues/experiences that they brought up that were very grounding and made us feel very comfortable with our beliefs at our church.

*edited for sp. I wrote tissues i/o issues lol..
