Finshed my DIY memorial candle for my dad (w/ pic)

Original post by Aug07OFCbride

I bought a tall pillar candle (is it really bad that it's Vanilla scented?- I didn't realize til checkout), vellum paper, and ribbon that matches our colors all at Michaels. Then I scanned a pic I love of my dad and made it sepia tone, typed up a little something in Word, added the pic and printed in landscape. Easy as pie. Besides my little confusion about how to get the vellum to stick to itself (thx girls, double sided scrapbooking tape works like a charm). Then I used just a glue gun for the ribbon and put two little pins through the back to hold the vellum and ribbon together and in place.

I didn't want to do dates under his picture or do a tear jerker poem...I didn't want it to be morbid (not that its bad if any of you did that, its just my preference not to), just an acknowledgment that we will be thinking of him and know he'll be with us on that day.

Got the saying from another LIW bride's example.

Where are you pttuing that? On the altar?

It's too bad people won't really see it

Thanks for the pics!

Theyll all see it! (And even if alot of ppl dont take the time to look, it makes me feel better that its there). It will be at the RH burning on one of the tables with other stuff- not sure exactly what yet. Have to find a place for a bunch of things- card box, i do letters, pictures in frames, candle, and few other things.
