I was going to work this morning, and I passed by Griece park. I noticed across the street to the park, on the corner...The white old Victorian that I pass every morning....burnt down. It was a white house...that was probably built in the early 1900's. I dont know when the fire occured, but I do know it had to be some time in the past 2 days. I passed this house the other day and it was fine.
The entire roof is gone on the house, and you can tell that the fire was really bad. I searched the web but I cannot find any info on the fire.
The reason I am so interested is that my friend used to live there around 16 years ago. He doesnt live there anymore though. I hope the people that lived there are ok. Scott

Off Sunrise Hwy.....Im not sure if the street is Horton Avenue, but if you cross sunrise on the other side Horton Avenue is there....Its the same road that W.L. Buck school is on.

Re: Fire in Lynbrook
I passed by last night. I usually take that road to cut through from Merrick to Sunrise. There were so many fire engines there. Theres a fire house right there if my memory serves me correctly.

Re: Fire in Lynbrook
I actually just passed by the fire a little while ago. A friend of mine lives a few houses away and informed me that everyone got out of the house safely but that a cat was caught in the fire. They aren't positive of the cause of the fire, but suspect is started in the basement. From what I hear, it was pretty bad.....

Re: Fire in Lynbrook
They had to chainsaw the roof off in order to prevent the fire from bursting out of the sides of the house!!
