I never truly felt like I was going to be happy with my photographer/videographer. I just called to schedule my e-pics, and instead of it being about us, it was about when they were available and where the shoot would be. We couldn't choose the location, or the poses, or anything. That left me with a very sick feeling.
I contacted another photographer (going over FHs head) and got a great quote and she really put me at ease. I'm pretty sure the money I put forth for the original photo/video is lost and I won't get it back, but it's just money and we'll make it back in some other ways. I'm going to go to a showcase on 7/31 to meet with the photo/video people and make my decision then. It's a small deposit, with another one due in December, and the final due a month prior to our wedding date. I already feel better.
I was just worried that the quality of the photos and video wasn't going to be what we paid for. FH is upset that we lost out on over $1000 so far paying this other person, but I would rather feel better about our photos and video than worry about $1000. I've pissed away more than that in the past. Nothing will make me feel worse than having ****** wedding photos.

You have to go with your gut and if you weren't totally satisfied, then it's a good thing you switched now rather than regretting it later.

This. I'd much rather lose money now than pay in full for something I won't even want to look at when all is said and done.

I agree! Pictures are one if those things that are important enough to lose a deposit over. You were right to go with your gut on this!

Agreed. If you stuck with your original photographer you'd probably be so upset over the situation that you wouldn't even want to look at your album! (I know I get like that haha)

Good for you! At the end of the day you need to feel comfortable with your photographer and do what's good for you. If you don't mind, could you FM me who you fired (so I know to stay away from them lol) and who you booked with now. Thanks!!

Photos are our forever memories and if future regret can be prevented then I think you should trust your heart. I would be devastated if my pics don't come out nice!
