First and second song with your fiance

I have a question. I heard that for your first song, you should ask people to join in towards the end, and for your second song (after the cake cutting) you can dance alone. Is that true? Is that the norm? My FI and I want to have OUR song be the first, and dance alone to it, but we don't want to leave any of the guests out. What do you girls think? I value your advice!!!

Some people have the guests join in with the first dance but I find that usually when the couple wants to limit their alone dancing.

Our first song will be JUST us.

Ive never been to a wedding where there is another song after the cake cutting but it sounds like a nice idea.

At a recent DJ interview, the MC said a trend he is beginning to notice is that the first song is the bride and groom's song and they dance ALONE. Then, they have another song directly after, during which the MC begins calling the BP to join - parents - then all guests....

When we couldn't decide on 'our' song - we had thought we might pick the top 2 and choose this option!

I agree that the bride and groom should dance alone for the first song. I know that our first song has a special meaning and I don't liek the fact thqat the DJ/Band interupts to invite guests on the dance floor while your song is playing.

Yeah, I want out first dance to be alone since the song has special meaning to us but I do think that many couples have others join them because they don't want that spotlight. If you think about it, you ARE the spotlight all day as it is. I thought I might do a dedication to my 'new husband' later in the evening to a song that we always sing to each other.

we danced our first song alone...then we had everyone come in for a kind of upbeat song 'Somewhere beyond the sea' - bobby darrin...

but our first song was under 3 min...I would have had people join in at the end if it was longer...

We danced the first dance to our song alone, then we had a second song in which the bridal parry and parents joined in, then everyone else. It worked out fine.

We are dancing alone to our first song. Immediately a second song will be played and guests will be asked to join us.

I have never heard of dancing alone after the cake cutting.

In the weddings I have been to, the bride and groom dance alone for the first couple of minutes and then all the couples are asked to join in. I think we were planning on doing it this way too.

For our first song, I wanted it to be just 'us', but my DH felt uncomfortable. So we just told the DJ to not let the other couples jump in right away. But after dinner, I had a song ('From This Moment') dedicated to my husband and had the DJ read a note that I had written because I knew if I read it, I'd be bawling, which I was as the DJ read it anyway!!! But it was just us for that song, nobody danced with us.

During our first dance, we asked parents to join first, then best man and matron of honor, then bridal party and then the rest of the guests.

Our band dedicated a special song, (I Left My Heart in San Francisco) to us as our very last dance, and it was one of the nicest moments of the night. They tried to get the guests to join us then, but everyone was so hypnotized by the magic of the moment, no one wanted to spoil it by joining until just about the end of the song.

Our first song is 'You Are So Beautiful' which FH's cousins are singing for us. So it will be just us on the dance floor.
The second song will be Elvis' 'Can't Help Falling In Love' and we'll invite everyone to dance for that one.

Our first song is From this Moment, which everyone will be included to join us. Then for our second song we are having Somewhere in the Night by Barry Manilow. That one we are dancing alone.

The first song, my FH and I are dancing alone. Our song is Keeper of the Stars. That song also has meaning for us. Our second song I would like is to be From this moment. That's when the bridal party and all the guests can join in.

Our first dance is 'Grow Old With Me' . My husband (we will be married then) and I will dance it alone. The second song 'Someone Like You' will be when our guests are asked to join in.

We waned to use grow old with me for our unity candle but the church won't go for it.. darn!

Were using keeper of the stars!! Also, I love that song.
