So FH and I were discussing all things wedding. So he has in his mind that we should send the invitations 6 months before the wedding. He is concerned that our OOT guests (pretty much his whole family) will not have enough time to make arrangements if we send them any later. I explained to him that I will be sending out a save the date at least a year in advance, if not longer.
However, he is staying firm to this 6 mth before the wedding sending out the invites. He made me look it up on the knot, and it says 8weeks maximum before. So he gets all pouty and says 'ok we'll do it the way you want to'.
So know I feel bad, even though I know I'm right. Should I just agree to send them out ridiculously early or do you think he'll get over it? I understand his concerns, but I have it covered!!

no.... you should send save the dates out with maybe a list of local hotels?... but not the invites that early

Re: First argument about wedding plans
no way. invitations should be sent out 6-8 weeks prior to the date. if you send them out a year in advance people may miss read the date. plus lets be honest your list can change over a years time. also people may miss place the invitations over that much time. send the save the dates out once you book your RH & ceremony.
if he is that conserned maybe put a little more info on your save the dates rather then just the date. like to location. also there are a lot of on-line places where you can set up a wedding website. so maybe do that to keep everyone up to date.
don't forget that word of mouth also does the trick. get your parents to spread the word around. believe me they will love to talk about it.

Re: First argument about wedding plans
I totally want his input and for him to be involved (which he def is and is very supportive), but some things need to be done in a specific way. We are booking CHCC this weekend, I'll let him pick the ice sculpture!! LOL

thats what save the dates are for. you can block out hotel rooms and send that info along with your save the dates if that helps.

Re: First argument about wedding plans
don't stress! I am sure there are going to be other things you guys disagree about along the way...but as long as you talk them out you will be fine!
i def think 6 months is way too early to send invites. People will probably lose them or just forget to reply. I think its a good idea to send out the STDs 1 year in advance and try to include hotel info so people can make plans early.

I would send out Save the dates...then there is no reason why they wouldnt be aware of the date!

just send out the std and that should be fine, maybe even start a website with all the wedding info so people can find stuff out that way too.

Re: First argument about wedding plans
Great advice everyone!! We are going on Sun to book CHCC, so as soon as that is set, I'm going to work on a wedding website.
We've been together for 9 years...so luckily we know how to get over things at this point!! He's a baby...but he's mine!!
