Do you think it would be odd/ rude to have a sort of Fast first dance? The only song we can both agree on is not a slow dance song!

not at all! ive seen faster first dances and thought they were fun. my cousin choreographed a swing type of dance. it was cute.

i love the idea of modifying old traditions to make the wedding more of 'your own' so i think anything to change it up a little is great! Go with the faster song!
