First Dance Question

First Dance Question

Hi ladies... for our first dance FH and I really want 'In my life' the cover by Dave Matthews. The only problem is that only a live version is available so sometimes you hear some clapping from the auidence. (There is a version on youtube if you want to listen to it). The clapping in the beginning can be edited out.. its just the one in the middle that cant.

We also have one other song in mind but I am not sure if the lyrics are appropriate for a first dance. It is 'have a little faith in me' by John Hiatt.

So I guess my question is # 1 is a live version of a song a big no no and #2 are these lyrics ok for a first dance? Sorry for the long post.

I asked him already and he said no. FH's friend does alot of editing though so we are going to run it by him and see if he can do anything. I love love love that song, and I love Dave Matthews even more.

And the version by john lennon is not an option right?

Not really.. we are both not big fans of that version. FH wants to pick the first dance song.. he wants it to be something from him to me. So he picked the Dave Matthews song or the John Hiatt song.

Dave

I know it can be done.... its just a matter of someone doing it for you. One of my exs did that with a song, he bought mixing software but thats all I know.

Hmm....I read the lyrics, and I don't think they're that bad. The only thing I can think of is that it's maybe implying that the one person DOESN'T have faith in the other, which obviously is not a good thing. But I doubt people will catch that, only someone like me haha.

Listed to the you tube too...it's not too bad. But I personally wouldn't use a live version that has audible clapping. Live version is ok, as long as there's not cheers and screams.

Yeah but a lot of girls use No Ordinary Love by Sade and that has some questionable lyrics in it as well. I dont think its bad... as long as you love the song.

There is one lyric in my 1st dance song that is questionable as well... but its always been our song and we loooooooooooove it.

I got the same impression from the lyrics as well. I love that song and when FH mentioned it I was pleasantly surprised but then I started to question the lyrics.. then again it could be something only i would think of too!

Great!!!!! I hope it works out!!! And this might sound silly but maybe email Dave's fan club or something and ask if they have a version of that song with out the noise... its a long shot but you never know.

Yeah, FH was also thinking of Always a Woman by Billy Joel...I had to tell him that the wedding is not an appropriate time for a fair and balanced assessment of Ali!

I do like Have a little Faith in me a lot...I always liked that song.

SO funny you say that. I told FH I was going to do that and he laughed at me!! I also said I was going to invite Dave to the wedding to personally sing it to me......but god knows I will end up dancing with the wrong man (dave that is )

Thanks for your help!

Invite him!

I emailed John's friend so waiting to hear back about the editing. Altho I think the in person Dave is a better option.

**breaks out soulful voice**

At laaaaaaaaaaast
My love has come along
My lonely days are gone
And love (or life?) is like a song. . .

Yeah, I'm trying to talk FH into this one. But despite the great version that Beyonce has remade, I think I'm going to have to go with classic Etta.
