First dance song

What do u think of the song When you say nothing at all by Alison Krauss?? I love it...is it ok for a first dance song?? too random and country?

The important things about a first dance song are: first, can you dance to it? I know, that sounds funny, but a lot of people choose songs that are really hard to dance to. And if you or your new DH aren't much of a dancer, it makes it a lot easier if the song helps. Then, it should be a song that means something to you two as a couple, and one that you'll listen to after the wedding and remember how it was. It also helps if it's not too long, unless you have them cut it short, or invite everyone to dance with you.

Anyway, about your specific song--I'm not familiar with it so I can't say! Sorry. Our first dance song happened to come up on my iPod's song shuffle yesterday (I like to listen to random songs on my train commute) and it made me so happy to listen to it. I'm sure the other people thought I was nuts, smiling like an idiot on the train. We can't dance, but we did our best, and we had a wonderful time. One of my best memories of the wedding.

It is a great song!! What matters the most about a first date song is that it is a song that means alot to you and your FH.

Well we dont have a song that is meaningful towards of relationship specifically. We are taking dancing lessons and practiced to this song, and it worked out....not to fast, not to slow...I think the song is about 3 1/2 mintues tho...were doing a choreographed song bc i cant stand dancing in front of ppl unless its choreographed. John from ballroom dance LI has been sooo helpful!! I have loved this song for a long time, and FH things its a nice song....its so hard when u dont have A song...

We didn't have a song either. But I suddenly remembered that when we first started dating we bonded over liking 'Strictly Ballroom' but not Luhrmann's subsequent movies. At the end of that movie, which is a very happy movie, the couple dances, and then everyone joins in and dances with them and the movie ends. So we chose that song, Love is in the Air. And it has sweet lyrics.

So now it's our song. The Alison Kraus song will be yours after the wedding!
