First Date

Talk about your first date with your FH or the first time you met...


How we met...

We met at Manhattan College's Freshman Orientation in July 2001 (before the commencement of our freshman year). Considering freshman orientation is a pre-party to college, word spread quickly about a party occurring in one of the dorm rooms. I knew FH would be there so I convinced my friend to come with me so I could go meet up with FH. My friend and I walked down the hall, walked into the party, said hello to FH and were literally in the room for 2 seconds before the Orientation Leaders knocked on the door. FH went to the door, let the 'party police' in, walked out and away from the trouble and left my friend and I to fend for ourselves (which later resulted in 8 hrs of college community service). I still remind him of this on a daily basis :)

FH and I wound up living on the same floor (4th) of Horan Hall freshman year. It turned out that he had a gf from home (but they were on a break) so we wound up hooking up twice but then he and his ex got back together so that put a stop to us. We remained friends though.



Fast Foward to a year and a half after graduation and I met up with him and a few of my guy friends out in the city. FH and I talked for a while that night and he walked me to my car at the end of the night. He called me the next day and we set up our first date which was Bowling at Woodhaven Lanes and Ice Cream and Eddie's Sweet Shop on Metropolitan Avenue.


oooooooffffffffff that was a lot

FH and I met 7 years ago while working in the same retail store. We went out on our first official date in 2006. He took me to Friendly's (I was his first date and he had no idea where to go)lol. Then we went back to his house and watched a movie. The rest is history!

For our first date FH took me to la parma and actually introduced me to how delicious wine is! (I just turned 21 when we met) after that we went down by the bay or harbor or whatever in huntington and walked around by the water.. it was really a sweet date

We met at a restaurant that we both worked at. I was a hostess and 18 years old and he was a server --22 at the time He would always come up to the hostess stand and hang around and we really got to know each other ..we began hanging out and the rest is history!!! Weve been together almost 5 years now wow time sure does fly!! Cant wait till the day we get married

omg I love our first date story because it was so ridiculous... watch out its long!!!

I met FH on E-harmony and we clicked over emails but I was really nervous to meet him as I never met someone online before.

We agreed to meet at this coffeeshop that was near both our houses and I was terrified. I walked into the coffeeshop, he had a table literally at the door, so he got up to say hello I like yelled hi and ran past him to the counter. So the first impression he got was (B*tch) haha

Anyway, we started talking and ended up closing the place down. The barista came by and said they were locking the doors so he asked me to go to dinner. We went to Indian, which I had never had before, we talked all dinner, he was clumsy and ended up stabbing himself with a fork, but when he went to pay his card was declined! I thought it was hilarious but it turns out the place didn't accept AMEX, and he was soooo embarrassed.

So i offered to take him out to a drink since he brought me out for dinner. I brought him to my favorite bar, and we grabbed a seat on the counter in the corner to talk. Apparently everyone I ever met in my life decided to go to the same bar that night and ALL night people kept coming up to me and looking him up and down and asking who he was, I was mortified.

We end up closing down the bar practically too. So we go outside and have this awkward goodbye hug and I go to my car. Little did I know that 3 airmen who work for me were at the window and when FH walked by they started yelling and pounding on the glass.

The best part was, at the end of the date, we still never exchanged phone numbers. However I did get a prompt email the next day asking me out again and giving me his cell phone number, and its been heaven ever since!

I met Andy on match.com.

Our first date was at 56th Street Fighter Club (we are actually going to have our rehersal dinner there). Then we went to Chillis to watch the Mets game and then cold stone for dessert. It was a great first date and glad it was my last first date!

I met FH at work, at a movie theatre. We worked weekends together. We started around the same time. We spoke all the time but he was constantly making fun of my good grades and dedication to school (ha). I thought he was cute but i didnt like him cause of how mean he was to me. People i worked with constantly said he had something for me.
He quickly became a supervisor..and we started to talk more and more. On Thursdays, payday, I would wait till he got to work so i could go talk to him. id bring my friends in on my day off to 'see movies' etc.
I was making my college decision. Dating someone else (who also worked there). FH convinced me not to go 8 hours away to school, and told me that i should go far to get away from my at the time bf..
One night, i was working in this coffee stand for the first time. i had no idea what i was doing. he helped me all night...stood by me when i wanted to quit cause i had no idea what i was doing. then he randomly turned to me and was like i decided you shouldnt go away to school. and i laughed it off telling him i made my decision to go. I had to leave early that night to pick up my mom, he agreed to let me out early and then said 'tell your mom i let you out so i can get on her good side' i laughed at him again and said why would u want that. he goes you never know. I left.
the next day in the beginning of my shift he asked if i would want to go see the movie Crash. At the theatre, the employees usually stayed later everyone once in a while to see movies..but i was like sorry i have school tomorrow. he goes no i meant like another day just me and u.
we exchanged numbers..and the rest is history!

Yeah these are good stories! And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to meet FH online!! Yay Mara!!

FH and I got engaged on our one year anniversary so we were only dating a bit more than a year total. I feel so out of place sometimes seeing how long everyone else has been dating! I mean me and him are still learning about each other, which makes this distance thing hard. But i guess it still keeps it exciting!

Yeah!!!! Not the only online dating story!

I also met FH online. We emailed back and forth a few times and then spoke on the phone for a few weeks. I was putting off meeting him because I had a bad cold and a bright red nose!
When I finally agreed to go out with him I actually let him come to my apartment and pick me up which I had never done with an online date before.
He drove us to the city and we went for Ethiopian food in the East Village!
I was not too sure I liked him and actually went on another date the next night (Saturday).
Then we went out again on Sunday after the initial date and I STILL wasn't sure I liked him!
After another date or two I was hooked though.

We were living together after a year.

We got engaged on our 3 year anniversary at the Ethiopian restaurant where we went on our first date. It was so sweet and low key. I don't think a person in the place had a clue.

OMggggg thats crazy!!! I have two friends who are married after being high school sweethearts, but I couldn't imagine doing that, I had bad taste back then!!

Yeah I remember my sister and friend telling me that if I don't like him I should stop going out with him!

It wasn't that I didn't like him - I was just making sure I guess. It all worked out in the end though.

I worked with FHs mom and she said 'You would be perfect for my son'. I told her to hook us up! lol We started texting & after a few phone calls we met.

Our 1st date was bowling

I dont remember meeting him but when i left the party he texted my friend who i was with and said that 'i was hot' - now i was not interested and didn't like this pickup line - next time i saw him (3 months later) he was working at a bar and i thought he was hot.. we started talking from there...
First date? well we hung out a few times w/ friends and then alone but officially the first date was supposed to be to a nice resturant about 3 weeks into hanging out but... we didn't make it out hahaha grabbed a slice of pizza later .. 4 years later we are now engaed!!

I love these stories!!

I work with FH's sister. He used to come in shopping with his mom once in awhile when i was working with his sister. So he would come over and talk to us. I got his number from his sister and just started texting him at work with her around. It was nothing serious just stupid nonsense. After a month we stopped talking and nothing came out of it. We met again at his sisters suprise 30th bday party and my friend tried to set us up. I wasnt very happy lol i didnt want to be involved with a friends brother and i knew nothing came of us talking a few months b4 hand.

Well after that he broke his ankle at work and started coming in shopping again. We started going to Yankee games with his sister and other friends and something clicked! We were afraid to tell his sister cause we didnt know if she would be to happy. So the first time we hung out alone he had told her he was coming over to teach me how to drive stick (lol not in the sexual way, my parents were getting my grandfathers old car fixed and i had wanted to learn) Anyway he came over and watched a movie then took me for ice cream. We had a great time and have been together ever since! His sister wasnt so happy when she found out but again once the ring came she had no other choice and is happy about it
