First day of Shopping....

First day of Shopping....

Ok, not a great one . I went to the Wedding Center in Commack with my MOH to look at bm dresses. Yeah, I've seen that many of you have said they are rude and I did see hints of that but the girl that was helping me (Stacy) was very sweet! Anyways, so I learned some stuff that I've probably read here but hadn't stuck in my head:

1. I should look for my gown before my bm gowns
2. I should come in having some idea at least of what types or styles of dresses I want my bm to try on.
3. I should do some research at home and take down some style # so that I don't have to waste time looking through books at the store.
4. Keep the bm shapes in mind.
5. Don't fall in love with colors because a computer screen is never what it really looks like.

So, me and Stacy had a little chit-chat and this is what she has told me from her personal experience and just from selling dresses.... She even gave me dress books so I can just browse some dresses .

I guess I just dove in and didn't realize that I would get so overwhelmed at the store.... Ok so lessons learned. I hope this might help some newbies and for those who are pros at dress shopping, is there other advice you could give others on their quest for dresses?

(Sorry didn't know this would be so long!)

Everyone here says try on alot of different styles even if you don't trhink they will look good cause alot of girls were surprised. what they liked in mags were not attractive and something they never thought would be wound up to be 'the one'.

depending on the sales person, you might want to ask for their suggestions, they sometimes have a good eye for what would become you.

try to avoid shopping on Sat - - you won't get as much attention, time and be rushed.

I went to Estelles and Debbie there is very nice and helpful and they aren't too busy during the week, they have a limited assortment so you won't be overwhelmed but it may give you some ideas. they also have a good few dresses in each size so you can actually get a good idea of the fit, especially if you are not a sample size yourself for tryons. Davids has alot of dresses in the diff size ranges too but surprisingly Estelle's had better service!
