First Doctor Visit

I've been on this board for a while now but I would like to keep this anonymous for now. I think I'm preggo (home test says so) and I have an appt. with the doctor to confirm. I was wondering what happens during the first visit. Thanks!

They will probably just take a urine sample or your blood to see if you are preggy. They will weigh you,check your blood pressure and give you a check up. If you are pregnant, they will ask you your family medical history and probably give you a prescription for prenatals.

well you'll go, and they will probably take a urine test to confirm. If that is inconclusive they might go for a bloodtest - I am assuming you took a urine test on your own and came up with a positive.

That is pretty much it! Depending on how far along you are...If you are like 10 weeks, they might do an ultrasound (you might want hubby or FI to come along in case) But if you are just a few weeks, they'll make an appt for you in a few weeks. They might tell you some dietary things, and will definitely put you on a pre-natal vitamin.

My first appointment, they took about 10 vials of blood and did a internal sonogram!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

On my first visit (about 7 weeks) they did a urine sample, blood, an internal sonogram and then about an hour long consult with the nurses on all the nutrition and other info.

My midwife did a blood test and urine samples. She also discussed prenatal vitamins, food/nutrition, exercise and what to expect over the next few weeks. I had my first sonogram at 9 weeks.
