first fitting

first fitting

i just had an almost miserable experience for my first gown fitting... but has anyone had a similar experience ?

what happened with me was this-when i walked into the dressing room there were two girls in there to help me get dressed- i said to them 'look, please dont take this personally, but i am Extremely embarassed- and i dont like to change in front of anyone. i dont even change my clothes in front of my sister-can i put the bra and the slip on, and then you can come back'? - and they said 'no prob, sure!'

well of course, i couldnt snap the bra... like, it seemed to not be wide enough so i asked my mom to come in and help me. she couldnt do it either, so she said 'excuse me, i think my daughter needs a bigger size', and then the head seamstress came in and she was all nasty - 'WELL, if you let the girls dress you like theyre supposed to you wouldnt have these problems' or something like that and i said 'im sorry, i just get really embarassed.... i just wanted to get the undergarments on alone' and then she started getting annoyed. so then i said 'really, its nothing personal; it could be you, it could be anybody....'

she got PISSED. she stormed out, slammed the fitting room door, ran up to the front, got the 2 (very sweet) girls that were gonna help me, told them 'COME IN THE BACK', she slammed more doors, mustve yelled at them.... freaking crazy! i felt HORRIBLE- my mom was about to cry....

seriously, im sure she cant be like that- she probably was having a bad night, or something mustve gotten lost in translation, cuz she got SO pissed. she was slamming doors, screaming, said we were rude to her, and then she REFUSED to help us LOL- and believe me, my mom wouldve kicked my butt if she thought i was being rude to the lady!

aggghh!!

other than that, i dont need much in alterations (thank god, otherwise i think she'd shred the damn thing), and i really like the dress... eyes on the prize, i guess

sorry about that- had to vent...

OMG!! What a horrible experience. I would call the shop tomorrow and complain because it's not right that they treated you like that. Although, it is good that you love your dress! I'd still complain and make sure the owner knows that the 2 girls that were helping you were nice.

What a B*tch
I know how you feel, I don't like getting dress in front of people either, but she needs to learn how to treat her customers.

That's terrible-can you complain to a manager or the owner?

Re: first fitting

well, i'm happy you love your dress... but that experience seems crazy to me. where does she get off? this is her freakin' business and she's supposed to be a professional... she should be used to dealing with all sorts of people - ones that would practically strip in front of her, and ones that prefer to handle certain things without eyes on them. geez!! i would definitely voice a complaint. that's just not right.

Re: first fitting

seriously call and speak with the manager if you can.
that is completly unprofessional and unacceptable.
no matter how bad of a night that woman was having there is aboslutely no excuse for her to take it out on you!!

OMG!!! Reading your horrible experience made me so angry. How dare she treat you that way. I can relate to not wanting anyone in the room with you... i can't even have my mother in there with me. Next time please stand your ground. Just keep a calm voice & a smile on your face and let the nasty saleswoman know that you do not like it when others are in the room with you and that is how it is going to be & you will ask for help when you need it.
I hope your next fitting goes better.

second--you have to be the nicest, most proper bride i know. cause i swear to LUCIFER....if she would've caught attitude like that with me...i would have cursed her out in 3 languages...english, spanish...and CRAZY!!! you have so much more patience than me! kudos to you for being the bigger person.

OMG!!! Where did you go? Because if you dont call seriously I WILL! Where does she get off. seriously you need to call and talk to something and they should either give you a discount of do the alterations FOR FREE.. I am steaming right now. seriously though please post where you went so we can all avoid this place for alterations

Re: first fitting

That's really horrible. I get very embarrassed too. I tried hard to get my dress on myself without anyone's help. These women think they can just bust in on anyone.

Re: first fitting

I am SO SORRY that happened to you!!! That is NOT at ALL an unusual request (getting dressed alone) For her to react like that is INEXCUSABLE - you're very sweet to say 'maybe she was having a bad night' and MAYBE she was but you STILL can't treat someone like that!! I Would DEFINITELY complain to the manager or owner and PERSONALLY, I would NOT be having my dress fitted there, I would go somewhere else!!

OMG I am so sorry that happened to you.
First off they should NOT treat any customers like that - I would call today and speak with the manager and explain to her how embarrased you were.

Good luck

Re: first fitting

No excuse for that kind of service! Isn't it ironic how AFTER they get your $, they treat you like a piece of $hit?! Unbelievable. Sorry about your horrible 1st fitting...defintely not something to remember. I would take the advice from us here on LIW and speak to the manager of the store. Totally inappropriate!!
