First fitting timing

How many weeks/months before the wedding do you go for your first fitting?

My Wedding is 2/7/09 and my first fitting is 11/15/08. I will prob have one in November, one in December and my last one in mid to late January!! HTH!

i was told to start fittings in feb since it's prom season and i need to have my dress good to go by the middle of june

yeah i thought it was crazy early but that was from the alterations people at davids and i don't think i'm going to let them go near my dress

i'm thinking more like april but i need to find a good seamstrss first
since i'm OOT i need to have my dress perfect before we leave buffalo I know i'm not going to want to deal with that headache 2 weeks before the wedding

I am probably going for my first fitting in January. I am doing it on the early side because I want to be able to bring my dress home (or at least my godmothers house so FH doesn't steal a peek!) by the end of March. I have heard and seen too many horror stories about the dress not fitting right, or getting lost and I will not take any chances! With that being said, I think two months before the wedding is enough time for alterations.

give yourself some time - 2 months to start? i went for my first on 9/12 - 2nd on 10/17 and im going for my third on 10/31 - and will probably have 2 more after that one

My first fitting is almost 2 months before the wedding but I've tried it on multiple times before then hehe

my first fitting is 11/21 and my wedding is 1/10. i wanted all fittings to be as close to the wedding as possible....

Just a personal experience - go when the dress comes in just to try it on!!!! It happened to me and my friend - the dresses didnt fit. And hers was two months before the wedding!! They sized her wrong and ordered the dress in prob 3 sizes smaller!!! They weren't going to even let her try it on but she made them. Thank goodness...she would have been screwed!!!!

My dress wont be in until April. So I wont be starting until like May. I don't want to go to early and the dress not fit or have to go for a lot of fittings.

I ordered my dress from Pronovia's, my wedding is May 30th and my first fitting is April 4th. I feel like its too close but I guess thats a good thing.
