First half of invitations--done!!

I did take pictures, but I'll have to resize them before I can post them. Got the first half of my invitations put together and stuffed last night. Took a while, I had to put the stamps on the RSVP and the envelope, put in the envelope liner (already cut, but I only got the addressed envelopes back late on Sunday so I didn't assemble then in advance), stuff the pocketfold, cut and tape the sheer wide ribbon I'm using as a belly band, then tie the navy satin ribbon in a nice bow, then neatly slide them in the envelope and glue it shut. I used a glue stick, I heard that it's the best way. Thing is, I ran out of the wide belly-band ribbon, so I need to buy more. Had no idea how much I'd need. They better have at least five yards more at The Store Across the Street! I'm going after work. it's the perfect ribbon for what I wanted, so I will be very unhappy if it's gone. It's 2', sheer ivory ribbon with satin edges. Looks great and brings in my last color on the front of the pocketfold.

The only problem is I kept forgetting to mark the RSVP cards with the pencil numbering trick. Luckily, most of the ones I did were my very close friends and family--sue me, I did mine first -- and I'll know who is coming and who isn't even without the RSVP cards.

That sounds like lotsa work... that'll be me in a few days

I'm a little confused about how you used the glue stick - unless I'm just a dope Could you explain it a little further? I have a sort of belly band myself...but the invite company sent lots and lots of glue dots...but I did wonder if a glue stick was the way to go.

We're assembling mine TOMORROW!

I didn't use the glue stick for the belly band, I used double-sided tape for that. Worked really well. I LOVE double-sided tape. I used the glue stick to put the envelope liner in the envelope, and to shut the envelope itself, instead of licking it. Who wants to lick all those envelopes? They taste bad, and you get paper cuts on your tongue. And then there was that Seinfeld episode. We're 21st century brides, we have pre-stuck stamps and glue sticks.

And thanks everyone! Yes, it was a lot of work, but a lot less than if I had made the actual invitations. OK, I designed them, tied the ribbons, got the extra ribbons, and did the envelope liner, but I didn't make the pocketfolds or do the printing. Oh, I did stamp the back of the RSVP cards because they were too blank. They look pretty now, with navy and pale blue pearlized crocuses stamped on there.
